Hey all, So I'm looking to customise an existing blade for a project I have in mind, and I'm leaning towards Deepeeka's Turkish Scimitar ( www.kultofathena.com/product.asp ... h+Scimitar). It's cheap, the right shape, and ordinary looking enough that I won't feel bad about cannabalizing it, plus it's supposedly a quality carbon blade. KoA advertises it as battle ready, but although I've never owned a Deepeeka I've heard that many of their 'battle-ready' swords, well, aren't. I'm hoping to be able to spar with this blade once I'm done with it, but I don't want to take off the hilt and find that it doesn't have a tang or whatever. Can I take their word for it? Does anyone on here have one or tried one out, and maybe have some advice to share? Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers, Jon.

I don't have any first hand experience with Deepeeka, but I thought I'd chime in since you weren't getting any replies yet. Going off what I've heard and read:
They might be okay for your intended purpose (sparring/perhaps some stage combat?) as they have rather thick edges. They are also extremely overweight however.
Deepeeka blades are not heat treated unless requested by the vendor, I don't think that will be an issue with Kult of Athena, though if I recall correctly it was at one point. That particular model should have an integrated tang as per the description, I highly doubt that it has none whatsoever.
Bottom line: I don't know if I'd trust a Deepeeka blade due to reports of poor construction and the weight, but for the price it's something worth looking into.

Might be a good blade, I read an article on Polish saber and I think one of their members uses one to spar(unless the photo is just one they used for the artical). I'll up load pic when I have the chance to find it again. They can be used for what you intend to. Again I'm not shure if this is one but its nice.
