Hey Peeps,
I've been looking online for Assassins creed weaponry, I've found one in the USA, Thought I can't find anyone selling them in the UK online. Can I get them into the UK from the USA?
Thanks, Tzipi

Well I don't know how the UK laws have changed and if it's easy or hard to import swords into country. However this UK store has Windlass made Assassins Creed weaponry and clothing: www.thevikingstore.co.uk/assassi ... d-87-c.asp

I just got the Altair assassin's creed fighting knife today. When I get a chance I'll take pictures and do a mini review. My first impressions though are that there are a few things that need to be fixed on it to be safe. The sheath securing the knife is unsafe and needs to be worked on. The point pokes through the end of the sheath and needs reinforcing. Finally, I am going to blacken the furniture since the white on it looks kind of tacky. None of them is very difficult and will make a huge improvement in it. I'm also probably going to dye the leather black, paint over the metal chest piece all in black and then highlight the lines in silver. That is just personal taste though.
Again, cool concept and solid blade, just needs some tweaks to take it to the next level.

Actually, I just got finished re-painting the handle and the metal chest piece. I painted them a base black and then did a silver dry brush over them. It looks much better now. This is what they should have done from the start. Tomorrow I'll dye the suede black.

Is the handle plastic? that would be a major turnoff at that price.

It's metal and fairly heavy. When I was trying to figure out how to setup the belt and scabbard system for it, the knife slid out and hit me pommel first on the side of my foot. It hurt like hell and I have a nice little bruise from it. The main things I would suggest to anyone getting one are to re-enforce the tip of the scabbard or else the blade will poke through and rig another strap to securely hold the knife in place when it is hanging upside down on your back.

hopefully the money not spent on the sheath went into the blade then, haha. looking forward to your review.

For the money its not bad. The concept they had for the suspension system is a good one, it just wasn't the best execution. I imagine it will take me about 5 minutes to rig a temporary fix and probably an hour tops to do a more professional one once I've figured out the way I want to go and have all the materials I need. Dying leather doesn't take very long if you've done it before, nor did repainting the handle. It would have been even faster if I had just went with a straight black but I wanted to re-create the worn look and did a silver wash over it. Why they picked white I have no idea.....if a metal handle is going to weather and the color starts to wear off, its going to be silver looking not white.
All told, I'll probably end up take 3 hours or so to make all the changes and maybe another hour if I decide to sharpen it which won't happen until I get the suspension system fixed.

If you decide to sharpen, a Katana-esque polish might be a great idea. I'm curious how much potential it has as a cutter. i.e bottles, pool noodles and tatami.

The blade is fairly dark out of the box. I'm actually thinking of gun-bluing it. In way it kind of makes sense for an Assassin's blade to be dark.
The blade profile is remarkably similar to Windlass's Raven Claw Fighting Knife so I would expect it to perform similarly. Good for opening long shallowish cuts and underhanded thrusts up into a target.
