Ahhh...you must be referring to the new Ashdown Viking. Been eye-balling that myself. M1e too, it's been featured in their catalogues for the last few issues. Looks like it's their Battlecry Viking with a little more aesthetic added.

It's the steel on the inside that counts.

Be sure to order a butt cap to go with it. Makes a lot of difference in the balance, especially on a shorter shaft.

I've seen quite a few reviews complaining about the weld between the tube and blade though. Apparently will bend quite often when used for "hewing".

Even with the around 23 dollars off, that pays for the sharpening more or less. Still have to pass on this one. I sometimes just cannot pay that much for a MRL sword when resale will kill you. Cool if you really plan on keeping it forever.

Yeah, it would be a winner if it tapered more towards the point. I was half hoping it wouldn't be that sword, as it's one of my favorite "viking" swords, but the taper on the most cost conscientious one is my least favorite . With the 10% of it's at $206 though. Pretty nice.

5/27 Scottish Baskethilt Cutlass $ 149.95 www.museumreplicas.com/scottish-cutlassDon't forget the promo code SBGVIP for that additional 10% off I couldn't find a review it our index. I have one of these, it's a heavy cutlass but very solid. Use it in conjunction with a brace of pistols on your next voyage.
