C.S.A Confederate Cavalry Officer Saber
So what made me want to buy a Saber. was it the fact that i wanted a piece of history. No. It was simple i loved the way it looked. And I'm a Back Yard Cutter and I like to stand out a little. and I never see any back Yard cutting with sabers. I could not find a review any where. So here was my opportunity to help others that may be looking. With a review and to stand out in my cutting videos and I'm always up for learning how to handle a new sword. So i placed a ordered with KoA.
Historical overview I tried REALLY hard to find a pic or something to compare. To see if they had historical accuracy with this C.A.S Confederate Cavalry Officer Saber. So with 2 days work into Google emails and every thing i could think of I'm empty handed and very disappointed to say i have nothing ( But Dave Kelly is helping me out and is seeing what he can find. ill up date this once i hear from him)
Edit not really finding alot but Edelweiss did find us a nice pic
Full Disclosure. I in no way have any ties with the maker of this sword. Im just a back yard cutter
Initial Impressions
So after ordering it from KoA and having the sharpen it. It took about 4 days to get to me. So Friday night when i got off work walk into the bed room to see a beautiful creature in my bed. I think to myself what more could a man want in life then to come home from a hard days work and have this waiting in bed for him ready to be opened and explored. And that's when my fiancé came in the room and ruined it "so you going to open it or look at it". with that i just when over and took it out side to good light and opened the box. it was packed nice and tight and once i had it open i was happy. It was beautiful . No dents or scratch's that i could see..

Blade Length: 32"
Handle/ Length: 4"
Overall Length: 38"
POB : 5 38"
Weight: 1LB 15.0z
Components
The Blade I love the blade. It has just enough cover to make cutting easy and still be a good thrusting sword. The etching on the blade really stand out and are easy to see and really well done. Its acid etched. I was worried when i got the sword that it would be a crappy job. That's not the case. Another worry was i would mess up the etching with cutting again that's not the case the P.O.B is at the end of the fuller so you are not cutting with the etched part of the blade. Now the bad part the Very bad secondary bevel KoA put on the blade with there sharpen. It cuts but its ugly and i have some rework some time down the road file and sharpen it. but over all I'm happy with the blade the secondary bevel can be fixed easily
The Handle.Ill start buy saying the handle is peened..The leather is cheap as is the wiring that wraps around it.But it still fells good in your hand. The metal has some nice detail work in it. Down side is some of the gold plat as rubbed off the peened on the handle.
The Guard.I love the guard its my fav part on the sword. Its a 3 ring guard. With a lot of metal detail. Even has the C.A made in-between to rings. It really has allot of room so even if you have BIG hands you can still Use this sword with no worries.other then that there not a lot to say other then it looks really nice.
The Scabbard...Grrrr I'm very disappointed. It looks great fells great and there's even no rattle. So you ask why am i disappointed. Well after having high hope when there was no rattle and how great it looked.I took a closer look and ill be .... one side of the scabbed fits tight agents the guard the other side has a nice size gap. And I'm pretty unhappy with that. Ill add a close up pic so you can see.
The gap
Handling Characteristics
I would say it handles good fells a little heavy in the hand (I'm a skinny guy) but its NOT blade heavy at all and i like that. It moves pretty easy. its a little bit of a work out for my arm but i like it. Its not to hard to stop or turn. I have since gotten some Double Cuts with it on bottles so its a fast little sword. Over all its good a little heavier then i like but ill get use to it.
Test Cutting
The blade was sharpened by KoA i have not done any work to the edge. This is out of the box cutting. As a cutter i love it. Now ill let the video do the talking.
Conclusions
Over all for $140 shipped and sharpened you cant beat this saber. Its nice handles well. looks good. The scabbard does make me made but ill get over it. The Sharpen job KoA did was a little bad it was sharp just really bad secondary bevel. that i can fix but still bad. But i'm happy with the sword over all i mean it is a $140 sword so there will be some things.
Pros
Cuts great
Looks Great
Handles great
Pice
ConsGap between gaurd and Scabbard
Cheap leather on grip
Handle fells a little Fragile in hand when cutting
The Bottom Line
Would i recommend this sword? Yes if you want a Nice saber that looks good and can get some nice cutts with and dont want to pay a arm and a leg this sword is for you.
