Just remember that the last guy who had that happen to him was being chased by a pack of wild dogs first. And he was wearing shackles while attempting to run.

yeah, and then he went through a whole lot of sh#t that I think I'd much rather watch on a movie screen than actually live through (but then, I guess if I did live through it all, it'd be ok... hahahahaha)

I am waiting for the Father's sword(back-ordered). I can't justify to myself shelling out almost $3,000 for a "real" fantasy sword. I have heard Kult of Athena has a return policy. I am also of the ilk to need to have the best of a product. ie: I bought a Ruger cowboy revolver at $400...the Colt was $2,200....so I found one for $1900 and bought it as well. Now I have 2 guns that look and work pretty much exactly the same, one being $1,500 more. I envision me with 2 Conan swords in the future.

Ooh! When you get it, *please* give a review! The Windlass Atlantean was a wash out, so I'm interested to hear about The Father's Sword.

I was told to cancel the order, which I have not yet. I will base the future of that order on the quality of the Maximus Gladiator sword, also from Windlass, when it arrives.

That was just my recommendation based on how the Atlantean turned out.

Yes Vincent I totally understand and I appreciate the recommendation. I am sure the Father's sword will be no different from the Atlantean, but maybe for $250 it will be a happy marriage of economy and quality.

Well, we shall see when yours arrives. Who knows? Maybe Windlass just screwed the pooch on the Atlantean, but I'm not really counting on it.

I am not expecting a whole lot from them(Windlass). I know part of the price will pay the license overhead. In reality, how much will be using the sword? A few swings from time to time...anything longer than 30"(75cm)would be too long for home defense anyway. Conan was the movie, and in particular the sword, that spurred my sword fascination. Maybe for $250, the price of a night's drinking and philandering it will find a home. I will endeavour to photo it and dismantle it and give my uneducated opinion of it anyway.

OK the Father's sword came today. It is impressive and heavy. The blade was sharpened at KOA(I believe)and I could shave with it. For $250 I am satisfied, this is too nice a piece to be swinging in the backyard, but I may give it a one time whirl. This sword will not much use...even in a zombie apocalypse, it weighs more than an M-4.

It looks nice enough. Have you tried to disassemble it yet? The pommel should screw off, I believe, but check the end first to make sure it's not peened on... if you don't want to, no worries, just curious!

Photos! Thank you for posting them.
Second that.
If you're up for disassembling it --assuming it can be disassembled-- we'd love to see how it's constructed.

Gentlemen, I am reluctant to disassemble it as the leather wrapping on the grip seems to be held in place by the pommel. I myself would be interested in seeing the tang.

It looks nice and apart from the grip which looks straight and more narrow the same as the Marto version. Though a little better in my opinion and with a live blade. I had a Marto version some time ago before i got my fable version. I wonder about the tang also. Someone on another forum loves his and said it cuts like a demon.

We are not just a group of sword geeks. We represent a margin of weapon enthusiasts from every corner of the globe. I would like to believe our voice holds weight. I am personally writing Windlass to express my disappointment over the construction of the Atlantean. Windlass isn't a startup company or someone who doesn't know what they're doing. They've turned out a plethora of swords before that have been very nice quality for the cost. They know HOW to create a quality sword for a relatively low cost, in this instance they simply got lazy. Here is their contact page www.windlass.com/t-contact.aspxI think each of us should write them. Don't be mean, express your disappointment, but then explain what exactly you're disappointed about. Mayhaps with enough of our voices focused on this they'll get the hint and churn out a revamp some time in the future.
