Occasionally I come up with weapon designs on inkscape, so I've made this topic to upload them all. Here's one to start things off I call it "Time's Embrace" I felt it had that very sacred, ageless feeling to it. Basically it's a cross between a jian, a sabre, and a ken. I added a bit of steampunkish flair to the hilt for some character, along with the black star and 12.

nice to see a steampunk blade, and i like the overall shape, but why do you use such tip, i can only imagine, that a tip like this would be very fragile, just a point of advice.
nice to see someone designing swords besides vincent

Hey, now! I've gotta do something with all my free time! Anyways, I concur. The tip seems like it would be fragile. I've seen it often on older anime swords and fantasy swords and it's always reminded me of a yokote; which, if memory serves, is made by polishing away metal to make it very thin to better pierce with. That's well and good when you've got the rather thick spine of a katana to strengthen it, but without that spine, you'd essentially have a super thin tip that would likely break upon hitting anything harder than bone (perhaps even then).
Also, it may just be the angle or my eyes playing tricks on me, but the blade appears to widen at the pseudo-yokotes, which would probably make it good for chopping and hacking, but I can't imagine it'd translate into something with the nimbleness of a jian, even with the complex hilt. Still, it's a good start, I'd say.
By the way, Neo: calling it a cross between a jian and a ken is an oxymoron. They're written with the same kanji and gim, the Cantonese pronunciation, sounds very similar to ken; plus, ken means "a double edged sword". It'd be kinda like calling a curved sword a cross between a pulwar (Afghani) and talwar (Pakistani); they're the same exact thing just from different countries.

Yeah it's really just a fantasy design with the tip, It just looks good if you know what I mean. but I don't think It's actually that fragile because the tip is rather thick, therefore actually completely screwing over my idea of a jian-like blade, but meh. Function over historical roots I say!
[EDIT]
Vincent, I think you just pwned me....

I call it the Executioner, a large hybrid between scythe and axe. Based off a crucifix, it's the kind of thing you could see the grim reaper using.

maybe try takeing your original scythe idea and make it two ended with the curve on the back end pointed upward and then see what you get trying to make something similar but all i got is paint at work and thats what i can use as of right now.

I'm not quite sure what you mean there, you'd have to draw a sketch or something to show me. But it's good to know someone is taking some bit interest in my designs
