There are a number of folks on the MyArmoury community who have some quite impressive collections, Nathan Robinson and Patrick Kelly for two. I think we should let Paul decide whether to refer the TLC people to MyArmoury, though, if they haven't checked them out already.

Thanks for thinking of me guys. I'd love to be on the show, it may give the historical European arts some decent press, if I don't screw it up.

So does that mean we'll be seeing you on the tin screen (it's not a movie, but still video, so not silver, but tin... get it?).

I doubt it, but who knows. I've PM'd Paul about it, so if he wants to give them my name and they decide to come see me, I'd be happy to be on TV. Well, I say that now, but once I see myself stammering and stuttering and botching cuts on the screen I'll probably wish I'd never heard of this show.

Aw, come now, this does not seem like a man who would suddenly become uncomfortable talking about swords in front of an audience. Just remember that a camera is just an audience of one. I've worked as a PA on some promo shoots for a television network, and the crew is only a handful of people to speak to. They make a good effort to make sure people are relaxed and comfortable before they record anything. (And I'm sure even your botched cuts would still be miles ahead of the average joe's cutting attempts.) Best of luck if you do end up on the TV, and thanks for considering it. It would be great if this project might provide some positive exposure for sword enthusiasts. One can hope.

I just did a 'head count' of my swords... down to 27 actually. Less then I thought. The 'buy the hot tub' sale savaged my collection pretty bad... which, sorry to say, included the GBS as well as the Regent you got from me, my other Albions (Minus the squire line Knightly and Norman made from Squire line Viking blade) most of my Atrims...

Wait .... What? The GBS is gone again? I wish I had known that one was on the block again... The only reason you got it back before is you bugged me like I bugged Bill about the Kiyomaro. I LIKED that one.

Did it go to a good home?

I know... :? I did (do) really like that one, I still think it was the best looking sword in my collection. Although the Squire you got was my favorite single handed sword... so I lost a lot of my favorites. It went to a VERY good home... it went to join most of my best Atrims with Chuck.

If I ever get any money I'm going to order one of those... I've seen a couple of custom ones that are spectacular... I REALLY wish they'd run a %20 sale

I've seen some of the customs as well... very nice... I love the rope steel look... and A&A's Writhen Rapier is my favorite rapier. I used to dream about Having the GBS, Writen Rapier and Dagger, Bohemian Broadsword, and the Schloss Erbach Arming Sword... then I've have roped steel aplenty in the collection. A&A does it very well.

a guy named darrell sheets from a show called storage wars, he took the camera crew to his house, showed all his valuables and not too long afterwards somebody did a home invasion on him. i imagine the perpetrator recognized him out in public and followed him around until he found out where he lived. anybody who would do an invasion on a house full of weapons, probably wouldn't hesitate to kill someone. i'm just saying...

Personally, the fewer people who know what I own, the better, discretion being the better part of valor and all that. Anyone who collects/accumulates valuables should practice the art of silence. Doesn't mean you can't share your passion with others, but it does require caution regarding who you share with.
Now, if I was obsessed with collecting rusty tin cans, I'd be happy to share that on national TV.
