Hello. I've been pretty busy lately over at the United Backyard Cutters sword forums so I haven't posted a sword review in quite a while.I know these swords have been discussed briefly on here, as I did some research before acquiring it, but I don't see an actual review so here goes. It's the model 2208 Akio Hattori katana which I received from Darksword Armory. Awesome folks there, by the way. There were a lot of things I wanted to mention about this katana and it's accessories, unfortunately I had to edit the original 18 minute video down quite a bit so much of that was cut out . Despite being through-hardened with a brushed hamon everything about this sword screams quality. Very solid and well assembled. Unfortunately, I had camera issues during my cutting session and over half of the session didn't get recorded, including my cuts on the 5' tatami, but this katana performs very well. Here are the specs on this sword; -Hand-forged 1095 high carbon steel blade, through-hardened, no bo-hi -Hand sharpened with Japanese whetsone, to a razor sharp edge. ( Yes, it is very sharp!) -Tsuka: black silk ito over genuine Ray skin same -Hand polished wood saya with rattan wrap -Overal Length:39.5" -Blade: 28" -Tsuka: 11 -Weight: 2 lbs 7 oz. All said and done, I think this is a pretty decent sword for the price ( $195 at Darksword Armory ) and would serve well as a heavy target cutter. Thanks a bunch for the review. These swords seemed to have a somewhat rocky start. Comments on damaged goods being delivered and bad heat treatments were about the only news around. Glad to hear that they have picked up the ball. Another low-cost manufacturer around can never hurt.

Very nice, I want the 2209. I just need to scrape up the money once my UC Black Shikyo arrives.
