Okay, I'm not going to be able to call this a proper review, but I thought I'd post my thoughts and a few pics here. First of all, I generally hate water bottles because I do more batting them across the driveway than acutally cutting them cleanly, but this sword handles them well. I think I only batted a couple, and I'm sure it was my form messing things up. The soda bottles were more of a challenge, being thicker, of course. I also cut a few milk jugs, which are always fun, and was able to get some thin slices out of those. And just for the heck of it I threw in a box from some flourescent lights. I really liked the results I saw here. Boxes are something I always like cutting but I don't often get too many of them. This sword handled all of it with ease, and with each cut there was a satisfying, short ringing sound. With some blades the metal seems to reverberate longer after a cut, but this one made more of a "ping" noise, and that was it. Interesting.
I wanted to talk about the grip a little bit, too. The crisscross leather strapping is part of what makes this sword really attractive. But for future cutting, I think I'd want to wear gloves. It does give you a good grip, but my hands were definitely getting a little sore partway through. Now, maybe that's just me, though. And I did find it to be a thick enough grip, too. Another thing I like about the grip is the fact that it gets wider toward the end. As far as putting a finger over the ricasso, I only tried it on one cut. If it was something I was going to make a habit of, I think I'd file and round out the edges a little more.
As for the blade, it's a stiff one. No wobble at all, like some of my longer Windlass blades. It's got a thick, sturdy kind of attitude. A lot of those bottles I cut pretty far toward the tip and the blade still sailed right through them. It's good for the thrust, too. Because of the blade's thickness, this feels more like a warsword than something like the Hanwei Tinker Longsword, if that makes sense. It's not heavy, per se, but you can feel the blade presence, and you want to make big, sweeping cuts with it. One handed use is okay, too, but the natural inclination is to use that nice long grip it has to wield it with both hands.
All around, I'd say this is just a really fun sword. The design is really something special, the leatherwork is excellent, the blade is great. I'm really glad I preordered this all those months ago. It's a super great steal for the price, too. I'm really pleased with it.

I'll leave a proper review to someone else, if they want to to do it, but I just wanted to share my first impressions.
