I don't know how long this has been around, but I saw the (new?) Hanwei Hand and a Half Sword today. The design seemed a bit fantastical to me... and then I noticed the "this sword was also featured in the Movie Sucker Punch used by 'Sweet Pea'". I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't comment on it's accuracy but it looks pretty neat.

That's actually not very new at all, it's been around a long time-- it's one of CAS Iberia's original offerings before Paul Chen/Hanwei joined the company But yes, that is in fact the exact same sword Sweet Pea uses. I'm just surprised nobody has offered Baby Doll's kat, but I suppose the carving on the blade would drive the cost way up...

Like he said... stainless? Tsk tsk! At the very least the Hand and a Half is (usually) functional. You know better than that, man!

I have to tote on my sword nerdism here. When I was watching the movie with my friend and Sweat Pea first appeared with that sword. I was like "Hey! PSSST! That is a Hanwei hand and a half sword! It's likely the only functional sword in this movie."
Granted, I haven't heard to much about Hanwei's non-tinker medievals. But for some reason, I have a sense of "...blah" about them. Sort of a 'yeah they are swords but they really don't really stand out'

Ehh... the hamon looks fake. Even if it is carbon steel the quality of movie productions is pretty hit or miss... unless the movie prop was based on or originally a functional sword to begin with lol.

I have no interest in a Babydoll katana because I didn't like the movie; all I knew was that SoM was selling a replica.

i enjoyed the movie for what it was. scantily clad women with swords/machineguns fighting nazi zombies, robot samurai, and dragons.

See, if they had made the whole movie like that, it would have been a lot better just as a mindless action film; instead, we had to try and insert an actual plot and got the mishmash it ended up becoming.

Okay, so it's been awhile, but if you still want one, KoreanGuy, Kult of Athena just added a functional Baby Doll katana to their site.
