Don't worry about it. I've been eying the Robert's one since it came out. I'm generally not a fan of rapiers, but there's something about it that's just attractive, so it's always good to see it again.
Anyways, welcome to SBG.

HAD one. Sent it back. The guard was rattly and it was getting worse. The Roberts makes a darn good wall hanger and is decently manageable because of the length and low weight, but the hilt was too unstable for it to feel like a functional sword.
Granted the hilt issues could have just been with the one lemon I got, but overall the hanwei rennys are still nicer at almost $100 less. I've got one of those already.

Well thats horribly disappointing. I've had my eye on the Inigo one for some time (I know it's kinda gaudy, but what can I say I love the movie). I was hoping at the price point it would be more than just a wall-hanger.

I love the movie too (I doubt there are many people who love it as much as I do) but guady is still guady to me. Perhaps the Inigo sword is more sturdy than the Roberts, but it was too chunky-looking for me to consider and far less movie-accurate. Try this one on for size, Orion: www.macdonaldarms.com/armoury/MontoyaRapier.phpI want to re-iterate that I didn't think the sword was awful, it just wasn't as good as others that are less expensive. I almost kept it just to say I had the official sword because I got all giddy when I held it for the first time and saw the certificate and plaque and everything that came with it. It was a cool feeling. Rattling guards are a common windlass thing, and are fixable, and don't indicate that the sword is not safe, it just was too irritating for me personally to deal with. It might be the right sword for someone, it just wasn't the right sword for me. I'll keep searching.

Thanks for the link Luna, that one looks closer to the movie prop. Which is interesting....I agree with you on the chunky-looking, something just seemed off about the proportions. But the description on KOA reads "Copied directly from the original prop sword with exacting attention to detail"... curious. Perhaps I will wait and see if someone does a review

The big question for me is: Who actually made them? KoA sells them, who produces them?
