So I dont really want to get to much into this because I think Lunaman covered everything rather well in his review viewtopic.php?f=6&t=332&p=1757&hilit=bks+leaf#p1757
this review is mostly just to show off pictures of my new sword
Initial Impressions
Opening this sword can only be described with one word
WOAH
it looks way cooler in real life than any pictures could ever do justice IMO
but it might just be that I loved this design so much from the beginning and seeing it up close and in steel is just awesome
Components
Blade
so one may notice mine is not quite as shiny as lunamans I opted for a satin polish
and by my preferences I was actually expecting it a bit rougher more towards a hanwei tinker sword polish
but it was a bit shiner with minor inperfections here and there, but over all very pretty and I love it
the blade came very sharp with a teeny bit of a secondary bevel, the edge is nearly perfectly straight but towards the tip it wavers a couple milimeters, but I suspect I can work that out easily enough and it hasnt seriously affected cutting ability
Handle
so the handle is a very tight thick leather wrap directly applied to the tang signature for all of BKS swords and I really like it both aesthetically and use wise its very comfortable and doesnt slip up
I got brown leather and I think it looks kickass
the sword handle is a bastard design of course used for either one or two hands
its fairly large so for the most part it makes sense to use two and its definitely more comfortable that way
Guard
the gaurd is wide and curved it is even and its gorgeous
the polish is a little higher than the blade, and I think it works well in these shots you can also see the BKS SBG and 006 engravings (though just barely)
The Pommel
I got the non facetted pommel so its a bit bulkier and heavier, which of course brings the balance back a little bit
but I really liked the look of the original, and also decided if it really bothers my I could shave it down myself later
its very nicely polished and I think it looks great
Handling Characteristics/Test Cutting
so this sword handles awesome its balance is pretty close to the hilt so you dont really feel the weight of it so much which is of course good and bad, it makes cutting a bit tougher and fairly unforgiving you really have to be perfect with your form
the sword is very nice to swing around very manuverable and not tiring to use
and the tip control is excellent which is good because this thing has a mean tip
finally some cutting pics I got
Yeah I really suck at cutting, but the pics are cool
