How does the grip feel in-hand on the KC?

I have not done any cutting with the KC as of yet. When I purchased the sword, I wasn't sure what I wanted other than a "great feeling" sword. I am used to my two DSAs, both of which make excellent starters for backyard cutting, (tough and nearly indestructable as well as very forgiving of a newbie swing) but way too heavy and cumbersome. I've been practicing and developing my skills for about nine months now. So I decided I was ready to buy something that handled better since my fear of damaging the sword with an improper cut has diminished. I went to KoA with the intention of purchasing a sword, but the way it felt in my hand was the number one factor for buying. I'm not joking by saying that I handled just about every sharpened medieval sword Ryan had out on the wall (including a GSOW he had in the back and opened just so I could try that one out as well). The KC was one of the first I handled (in fact, I think it was number three). It was a true eye opener. I was shocked at how responsive and "moveable" it felt in my hand. I laid it on the counter and continued to put finger prints on at least a dozen more swords. After every sword I handled, I was drawn back to the Teutonic to compare. After over an hour and a half of deliberation, I chose the Teutonic to take home. I don't wear gloves when I handle my swords or do any cutting. So, bare handed, the KC's grip feels sure and solid because of the cord wraped handle. At first, the handle did feel a tad on the slim side. I considered adding a leather wrap over the handle. But after a week of handling the sword, I have decided against it. I think the "slimness" was a result of my familiarity with my thick gripped DSAs. I was also conserned with the durability of the cord on the KC. So far it is holding up well to my handling and swinging. (Again, no actual cutting yet). There is some sort of covering over the cord that seems to be working well to keep it solid and avoid any freying. So far, I am very pleased with this purchase. She will absolutely be getting a scabbard more fitting her quality. I plan on doing a full review on this sword (it will be my first attempt at a review here) as soon as the weather will cooperate and I'm not bogged down with work. This weekend hasn't panned out yet, but this afternoon or tomorrow might.

Very nice indeed!
Yep, You've got the sickness. I waffle back and forth between thinking it will run it's course and resigning myself to the fact that I'll carry it for life. :?

Thanks Bill! My wife would agree, I need to slow down. kelmain... I hear that. I jump around, electric guitars/handguns/swords. It seems that I spend a lot more time obsessing over swords lately.

Nice collection man. I especially like that XII I see you got a Meglas(sp) before it was pulled from Christian's site. It looks lovely. What are your thoughts on it?

@ Aaron... Yup she is still hanging around. @ Bryan... Thank you. I'm still longing for an Odin Blade or Longship. @ mcapanelli... The Maeglas is an exceptional piece. It is actually one of my best cutters. I kind of retired it from cutting because I handled it so much I was discoloring the grip. I have considered selling it a few times because I'm an idiot. Thankfully, I was able to pull my head out before I actually listed it. It is a great companion to the Rob Miller Ranger that I got from Bill.

My newest addition... A & A Henry V (standard version, not the hollow ground version). Plus, one more week until the Bristol Ren Fair opens and I get to drool all over the A & A shop.
