So, I noticed most of the swords on the show have a decidedly medieval-European cruciform look to them. Opinions on these weapons? --Edward P.S. I'll admit Viserys' sword looks pretty cool to me; reminds me of a falchion or scimitar:

I like the look of Needle and Jaime's sword. Honestly I think the extra's swords are the most interesting and the least "fantasy" based. The rest are too gaudy for me. Looking forward to how they portray a certain sword later on....

I like that one also... bladewise it looks a lot like the Windlass Raptor to me... very cool. So far the swords on the show have been hit-miss for me. Like Arron I like Needle very much... and being a sucker for Irish Ring pommels I dig the Mountain's sword. I saw another one that had what looked like peacock feathers on the scabbard... thought that was very cool.

Viserys' sword is something I would definitely cal a falchion. in fact I'd say the point looks a lot like the original Thorpe falchion.
I haven't seen much of the show or the other swords, but I would like to.

I know I posted this on another similar thread, but I think that Robb Stark's sword is maybe the most standard of the swords. It looks like a Hand n' a half Brazil nut type X with a more tapered blade. Or maybe it's a type XI www.fanpop.com/spots/game-of-thr ... tark-photo Anyways, you get a shot of it there.
