I don't know if any of you guys have had a chance to see "Thor" yet this weekend... but if you haven't, then I definitely recommend it! Yes, they took a LOT of license with Norse mythology... but this movie isn't really based on the Norse mythos... it's based upon the Marvel mythos (and yeah they took a few liberties there too)... and overall the movie turned out MUCH better than I expected (I'll admit that going into the theater I was worried... but I was completely wrong). Hell even Rotten Tomatoes is giving it a 4 out of 5 stars... which is ridiculously high for a superhero genre movie. ANYHOW... in that movie there's a pretty cool "fantasy sword" wielded by Heimdall, the Guardian of the Bifrost Bridge... I'm calling it a "fantasy sword" because the only thing remotely Norse about it are the carvings... but then again, it wasn't designed to be historically accurate... it was designed to look cool in a superhero movie... and look cool it does!!! This sword was made by Dave and Andy over at Mad Dwarf Workshop, and I think they really outdid themselves. maddwarfworkshop.com/thor.htmlGetting one of your blades into a major motion picture has got to be a major achievement for any smithy, and while I'll admit that I wouldn't personally want a sword like Heimdall's... It still looks damn cool! Once again... congrats guys!!! P.S. Oh and congrats to Andy on the wedding too!

Don't get me wrong though... Even though I personally wouldn't want a sword like Heimdall's (it's way too big for me... I'm not a"little guy" but I'm also not built like a Norse god either), there's no doubting the skill & artistry that went into making that blade!

I had no idea they were the ones who crafted that! I am a big fan of MDW, it's wonderful seeing these guys get such exposure! I highly recommend their videos on youtube.
