Better get your order in Saito, they are only making thirteen of those Stormbringer's.

mine has always been this beauty: also, I would really like a big, fat kiriha zukuri-sh blade with double grooves and handle style off fableblades two handed viking sword. mmmm, that would be reallly nice... :roll:

wow hard question to answer. I think one of these would be amazing
.
Short of that, a lighter version of this;
Or possibly a twistcore shuangshoujian from jin shi. I did have one at one stage but they mucked it all up. Maybe I will try again one day. There are just too many to pick one. I also have a couple of my own designs and there is at least one historical yatagan;
I'm in love with the blade shape and made light yet strong and fast with a decent rehilt I would never let it out of my sight

Wraith, the second one isn't showing up. I originally posted in this thread that, for me, it'd have to be one of my original designs and, for the most part, that hasn't changed. My first priority would be Ithin: (The design has changed slightly, so the proportions on this sketch are off a bit) After that it'd be a crapshoot between three of my designs and one by Elheru Aran: (The first three are my designs rendered by MOK in Inkscape because, quite frankly, my art abilities suck)

This guy, right here: www.fableblades.com/Blue.htmlOh, yeah... though I think I might like a slightly shorter ricasso, and thus a slightly shorter blade overall. Unfortunately, I don't have near deep enough pockets, not right now anyway. But someday...

Interesting blade. Who's the maker?
Eh, you're not that much worse at drawing then me, honestly. I just cheat by drawing them in full size to get the details right and use a giant ruler and several actual swords as templates. Even those scetches of yours would clean up okay in Photoshop or a similar program.
You don't have to put in the extra effort if you don't feel like it. Just, don't put youself down too much.

vincent, my kiriha zukuri/two handed viking sword is quite close to your ideal, namely this: just make the point kiriha zukurish, like this: oooh, I think my pants just got tighter LOL....

Hah, don't worry about that; I'm a writer first and foremost and in that area, I think I excel. So I gave up a little drawing ability in exchange. I'm okay with that. :lol: I just like pointing out the fact as a way of explanation. Why do I get MOK to redo some of my designs? My art sucks and since these are designs for my novels, I want them to look the best. nihontoman: Kiriha-zukuri happens to be my favorite shape aesthetically (specifically, this shape), but I can't find any information about it so I don't know if the style is worth anything. As to my Stigandr, it's actually a two-handed viking sword with a modified Petersen Type AE hilt and a Geibig Type 14 blade; I've wanted a single edged viking sword for years and recently, I've been wanting a two handed viking sword, and I love the Type AE hilt, so I figure, why not combine all three?

yeah I like that one too...
also combining the single edged blade and long handle is a very good idea, it is very impressive to say the least....

Thanks. Despite wanting all three of those things, I didn't actually think to combine them until I saw Brendan's Quickened Fury. And even then I didn't get around to designing Stigandr until I needed a sword for one of my books that would be relatively intuitive to use; first thoughts that came to me were "two-handed" and "single edged". And poof! In pops the image for this sword.

Well, the exact same thing applies to me as well. Nobody said you can't be good at several things.
No, see, I'm saying that your drawings don't actually suck - they're just a bit unrefined. You shouldn't disrespect your own talent, that'll just lower your self-esteem.

You know, I used to want a single-edged Type AE for pretty much the same reason, but then I found I didn't actually like how they look together. These days I'd rather have a single-edged Type S.

anders: the maker is barry dawson. I've been drooling over his website and the blades on it for quite some time, I'm just not sure if they are worth the price or not. Also with the sort of dollars that he wants for his blades, I would be moving into territory where other blades would be in the price range as well.

These days I'd rather have a single-edged Type S.[/quote] True, but if I'm not good at something I have little interest in, I'm not that fussed. :lol: I've already got pretty low self-esteem (not my fault), so there's not much more I could do to it. Anyways, perhaps I shouldn't say my art sucks? Because I really mean that in a relative term compared to my writing. Whereas I do like how they look together, especially with the added ring that ties in to my story so very nicely. It's not technically a Type S (or it may be, I don't really know), but there's always this: It's a Migration Era Bowie that MOK designed for me after he used the same hilt on a Buliwyf redesign; the only reason I didn't put it up in my earlier post is it's technically not a sword (though it is a short sword by virtue of its 20" blade). I guess if you took the clip point out, that'd probably look about like what you're looking for, right?

Took a look at Rick Barrett's contemporary gallery a while back and saw this bad boy: Now we're talking!
