I own a Raven Two Handed Saber, and it is definitely not CGI.
If you've never handled one, you owe it to yourself to at least pick one up and hold it for a bit. They are epic.

Or at least, more realistically, some pics and maybe a review? There is next to no info out there about Raven products... so your input would be very useful.

Turkish Kilij/Scimitar thingy from Raven, not really a "Saber" as I stated earlier, but close enough. 28" blade, 40" overall, and is as solid as anything that I've ever hefted. Balances right at the front edge of the guard, and the mass pivots on the index finger of your forward hand. It feels neutral in hand until started in motion, then the mass of the blade takes over. Entirely capable of taking a head off lickety split. The way that it is balanced is the closest that I've ever had anything compare to an Atrim LPM sword. The Raven has a bit more blade presence in motion than my LPM Saber, and is not quite as agile, but it is pretty darn close. REAL DARN CLOSE! Yeah Sean, you would like this one.

I obsessed over sword since before I can remember so I really can't say what sword got me started but currently I really like the swords in the anime Claymore, though I'm sure that has something to do with the people holding them. completely silly and un-realistic in proportion and I'd have to become super human to use it but there's something really sexy about these swords. the holder, yeah I know.

The silliest thing about those claymores is the tang; from how thick the handles are, it must be wire thin, particularly where the blade joins the guard. That said, I agree that as unrealistic as they are, I also like their aesthetics. Particularly the engraving on the spine; could that be done without harming the blade?
As for the Claymores themselves, they're all quite attractive in their own right.

Chuck... that is a wicked looking weapon... would love to get my hands on it. If it handles anything like the LPM Saber its a winner.

While my Raven is an older model, the handling demonstrates that Simon knows his stuff quite well and one can only immagine what the newer models handle like. The blade profile puts more mass out at the tip when put in motion versus the LPM Saber. That equates to more better chopping power. The Saber has the reach on it, and is a bit quicker.

Chuck, What a great looking Scimitar. As for being old, brilliance is timeless and i'm sure it is as good today as when you got it. It is also good to know that whilst it looks fantasy it is fullly funtional.

Claymore is a tremendously interesting series, though I haven't read it in years. I have the first five or six volumes of the US manga, but it looks like it's up to chapter 118 or so. I stopped reading when the anime came out, and haven't really felt the urge to pick it back up since. The anime was pretty disappointing, coming from the manga, but one day I'll pick the latter back up. Then again, I've been saying that about Berserk for even longer...
That said, the swords are their own interesting story.

I really loved the anime but then I watched it before reading the manga so that helps a lot.

The anime was great, at first, but when our didn't get a second season they kind of threw it all away trying to make a close of sorts...that didn't really work out so well.

I know. I hated that. I used to read the manga, but I got fed up with the monthly updates (I'm more of a weekly guy, myself), so I decided to wait until it's done before picking it back up. Now, if they did what they did with Fullmetal Alchemist and did a second series that is spot on accurate with the manga, I'd be pretty happy.

First of all: That's a nice sword. I am officially jealous.
Second: I didn't meant that Raven doesn't make actual swords, just that I have never seen anyone who actually owns one of those fancy elven sabers.
It gets worse - I'm pretty sure they don't actually have a tang at all. From what I recall of reading Claymore, the handles on those things are hollow and can be unscrewed.
Those were in the third Narnia film, right?
I don't really like the blade at all, but I'd love a hilt like that on a nice saber.
