Gday All, I know probably a topic done to death over the years, but when it come to fantasy swords this would have to be the holy grail of swords www.filmswords.com/conan/conan-s ... rsarys.htm Conan’s Fathers Sword. A bit on the pricey side at $3,330 but what a sword. Possibly the sword that has started it all, certainly the sword that comes to mind for me, so inspirational. Cost aside, what’s your Grail sword.

Ok, I know I'm stretching the "Fantasy" part of "Fantasy Swords" but this was the sword that started it all for me. Disney's Sleeping Beauty. So yeah, I want a custom remake of that sword.

Mine would be a custom made Warder Sword made specifically for my hands and style by Brendan of Fable Blades. that should be sometime next year. For now, my favorite is Morrigan's Talon, the sword in my signature.

Heh. You do realize that's the sword that broke, delivering the movie's final message, the Riddle of Steel: you can't trust men, not women, not beasts, not even steel - but only yourself. Steel is not strong, boy...

That aside, I'm still searching for my Grail. I'll know it when I hold it.

You know I'm sure a lot of people rolled their eyes at this, but modified with realistic dimensions This has the potential to be a really pretty sword. I may draw something up and see what people think

I don't have one, to be honest, but if I had to pick, it's a tie between my three original designs from my novels.

The first sword I was obsessed with was Aragorn's "Ranger" sword. Always liked swords but when Fellowship of the Ring came out (I was 13 at the time so I hadn't read the books yet), I had to have this sword. To this day it's the only film sword that I want as close to an exact replica as possible.
Other than that, the only other fantasy sword I want is a GOOD replica of the Sword of Truth, but Terry Goodkind is a stickler for copyright so it'd have to be officially licensed. Which means it would most likely be a mass-produced piece of crap. :/

You could always get a custom smith to do a 'one off' of it... if you don't call it 'The Sword of Truth' (you can call it whatever you want inside your own home) then any custom smith could make one of them... especially if there is not an existing production version of it to claim a likeness right. I'm guessing you didn't like the one in 'The Seeker'. For me... my 'Holy Grail' of swords is not one weapon... but 17. I'm a huge fan of author Steven Brust... and he created a world in which there are 17 'Houses' of a race called Dragarians... and there are 17 Great Weapons... awesomely powerful blades forged ages ago. I would love to design and have made all 17 great weapons... this would thrill me beyond messure.

The problem comes from the fact that he's got pictures of it at the start of every chapter. If you make it look like that (which I would because that's how the sword looks. If I wanted a different sword I have plenty...) then you're infringing on his copyright.
Having a one-off made would protect me, sure, but would leave the smith open to a lawsuit. Terry has already threatened to sue one person who sold a replica he made using a Del Tin Orcrist blade from the old Albion Moat sale. He then turned around and paid the guy to make him to copies for his personal collection. Seems a bit hypocritical but it's his intellectual property, so cool for him. He's said that he's open to the idea of having swords made for sale, but obviously he wants to license/sell the rights. Can't blame the man for not wanting to give his stuff away for free but he comes off as quite a bit over-zealous. You don't see New Line suing for all the copies of their swords being made.

Actually I do have a beloved sword that I would like to see made real, but I'm not even sure if it's possible. In the movie 7 Swords Donnie Yen uses a jian that is solid construction and the "guard" is hollow giving the sword a beautiful bell-ring. Lots of crazy movie effects going on in that movie, but damn I love that sword.

Greg - I've actually thought about making that sword too. I've taken a bunch of screen caps of it lol. It was my first sword movie too, from when I was like 3.
KingRat - The Dragonspear was all Jeffrey's design, I fabricated the blade to his blueprints. It's a classic.

When it comes to fantasy swords or euros, I always had an affection for broad tips like the one here But I told myself -I'm going to redesign them both, when I have the money I'll have them made

No wait, I do know the Holy Grail of swords! It's not exactly real, but... I am the bone of my sword, Steel is my body and fire my blood. I have created over a thousand blades, Unknown to Death, nor known to Life, Withstood pain to create many weapons, Yet these hands will never hold anything. So as I pray - Unlimited Blade Works!
