Hi all This is a bit of a tough one ,but does anyone know of a good quality leaf blade sword that is available to order without the 6 to 8 (if not longer) weeks wait of going the custom route ? Basically a year or so ago my sword preferences changed from strictly japanese and chinese styled blades to more Euro type (yes I went over to the Dark Side ,ha ha) . This being said one thing my collection is seriously lacking is a good quality leaf blade . I would have loved the Megalas from CF ,but the wait is just too long . Its not that I am impatient , its just long waiting periods are not practical for me as I'm an international buyer and with our currency bouncing all over the place what I budget for today could drastically change say 8 weeks down the line when the sword is complete and on route to me .Leaving me with a nasty surprise at Customs when it comes to paying the 41% in duties !!! So anyone know of any good leaf bladed swords which are available to ship (without the long waiting periods)?

One handed or two handed? Because of the mass of Leafblades... I tend to prefer single handed shorter ones myself.

Hi Sean , I tend to prefer something a little shorter as well , but I'm not totally opposed to something a little longer (like the Maeglas from CF) .

Wouldn't the currency conversion be a non-issue as one generally pays up front for custom orders? Or are you concerned about the price of shipping when it's finished? Just curious.
Production leaf blades aren't all that common, at least *good* ones. I believe there's one for sale in the classifieds and on MyArmoury actually, made by Kirby Wise.
You could look into Mainz or Fulham pattern gladiuses, as well as gladius hispaneus.
Also, if you're interested in bronze, Neil Burridge's Bronze Age Crafts make leaf-blade Celtic swords as well.
Iron Age Armoury (Ollin forge?) also made a xiphos at one point, don't know if they still do. The one I've seen may be a custom job.
Hope that helps...

Hi there Unfortunately the currency conversion comes into play when the sword arrives in our country as we pay a 41% pf the swords value in customs duties and clearance !!

How short? The Kris Cutlery Celtic is pretty nice, but more gladius length than anything else.

Have you contacted Christian about the wait time on a Maeglas?
I had mine within a week from ordering it.

Yip ,its just as Sean says . BKS also seem pretty busy so it's going to be a wait . Love the look of the sword , but its difficult to order something with a long wait period due to our fluctuating currency and customs . So sadly my search for a similar leaf blade must continue .Had CF had one ready to go I would have snapped it up right there and then trust me . So anyone want to sell me their Maeglas ?

The BKS version I posted the link to is the same shape blade as the Maeglas, only a bit shorter. You could sharpen it if industrious enough, or maybe have it sent to BKS and have Matt or Kerry sharpen it for you then send it on. I am unsure if sharpening it would remove enough material to affect the balance. Perhaps some Email inquiries would be in order. My Maeglas is NFS for the forseeable future.

Ha ha ha ,dont worry I would not part with it either ,yeah I think Im pretty much going to have to wait until CF has them available again or alternatively I might need to get hold of Brenno at Fable Blades as my collection is missing a good leaf blade .

 At this rate it might be more than 5 soon enough ,ha ha . Actually speaking of Fable Blades my 2 new toys arrived today , The Excalibur and My Anduril .I could not resist letting Excalibur have at some Mats and wow what a beast ! Went through those mats as if they were not there in the first place ! This thing just makes you want to put on a suit of armour and join the battle
