Hi All Well a couple of days ago I posted a poll as to which Fable Blade I should get for my second blade from Brendan . Well iv pretty much decided on the Anduril .Yesterday my lovely wife decided that as my anniversary gift she wants to get me a Fable Blade . Knowing that I like both the Excalibur and the Felarof she said I could choose one of them ,the only thing is that I like both , so another tough decision ,ha ha . Which would you choose and why ?What is your take on the completely wooden hilt vs a normal hilt . Iv got to make my decision by the end of today so that we can get the sword shipped in time to reach us , so what say you ? Excalibur: Felarof:

Difficult choice, but I say Felarof. I don't really care for the flare of Excalibur's shoulders or the bright furniture, but at the same time, the more I look at it, the more I just don't really like the wood furniture on Felarof; the blade, however... The blade shape is just pure awesomeness.

Excalibur. No Contest. I love Brenno's work... but I've told him before I'm not a fan of the wood hilted swords.

Excalibur. That is probably one of the best version of Excalibur I have seen.

Hi Sean , any particular reason as to why you are not fond of the wooden hilts ? Structurally it seems pretty sound especially after watching Brenno's video with the Felarof taking a beating against that large plastic drum .

Even tho my swords don't see real blade to blade combat... I want them to be able to do so if needed. The wooden hilt wold get jacked up in such a situation. Also... I just don't like it to be honest. I LOVE a natural wood grip and scabbard with carvings... but I want my pommels and guards to be metal. Personal taste issue that is... but the durability issue mentioned above is a point with me as well.

unless it's traditionally supposed to be wood, like a gladius, I'm not normally a fan of wood guards (there are exceptions of course)
For this reason and more I would choose Excalibur- both have great looking blades butI like the shape on Ex better, and the construction and design quality are just awesome- I think that sword actually has potential to increase in value given that it is such a great representation of a historicesque design.
Now, if I understand right you are getting Anduril as well....2 Fable Blades at once...on top of other Fable Blades you already own...

Fableblade hoarder, leave some for everybody else.
^^^^^ (joking)
Excalibur man, Excalibur.
Felarof is cool, but Excalibur is quite simply Excalibur. Outside of the Albion Discerner, you will look long and hard to find an Excalibur copy in the same league as Brennos version.
Draw forth from the stone, the sword that is the symbol of your power, and go forth to meet your destiny.

Oh boy it would be Excalibur in heartbeat. Short of getting the Albion version ( only because its two handed). This is the nicest historically accurate swords ever.

i choose excalibur because that version is the BEST excalibur ive ever seen and it looks amazing, as for the wooden hilt, i love a good natural wood handle, but the pommel and guard...not so much. on a gladius yes. its still a beautiful sword, ust not my cup of tea. im sure its structurely sound tough

The wood hilt on the Felarof is the deal breaker for me. I'm with Chris on this one. It may stand up to use, but the sword was born for war, not bottles. I'd go for Excalibur.

Felarof seems more unique, as to the wooden guard, it worked well for the roman gladius and this looks to be of a similar style. I think you will be well pleased with either SwordFan as the are both great.

My choice would be Excalibur. Felarof has an artistic beauty all it's own, but as Chuck said, "Excalibur is quite simply Excalibur".

I actually like Brenno's Excalibur better then the Albion one... because I always thought Excalibur should be a single handed sword. Brenno's Excalibur is the best one I have ever seen.

i always saw Excalibur as a 1 hander as well, wielded paired with a shield. ANd i love the ultra shiny/silver white theme of the sword. it truly looks like a weapon forged by magic rather than by hammer and anvil.

Get Caledfwlch. It's SOOOOO much better, obviously. Look! It's shiny and gold and... shiny! Felarof doesn't look good at all! Not at all! No, I'm not saying this because I want Felarof! Of course not! Why would I do something like that? Get Caledfwlch! Owning it will obviously give you the ability to fly and even raise the dead! Order now and we'll give you a free iPad! You like iPads, don't you?! IPADS!!! You, sir, have an awesome wife. I'm jelly (jealous). It may be a little late to post this. It's only a few minutes until tomorrow. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong, good sir. *Insert joke about having wood [handles] in one's hands here*

Get felarof if you intend to so some cutting without ripping of your arms. Excalibur looks amazing but its weight isn't. Unless you're Arnold Schwarzenegger you'll have a hard time swinging a single hander that weighs 3lb 5oz. For display purposes or just because you loved the movie, Excalibur is awesome but like I said, depends on what you want to do with it.
