Here's the scenario kids, Lets say you checked the mail today and magically, CROM the god of steel sent you a Coupon from all of the Top Custom Sword Makers for ONE FREE SWORD TO ANY SPECS, FROM THE SMITHY OF YOUR CHOICE.
Who Would you Choose as your Smithy and why? What type of Sword will it be? What type of steel? Blade stats? Hilt style? Hilt materials? Blade etchings? Be as descriptive as possible, and also if you possess drawing skills, Computer or Pencil and paper, show us pics. Lets see Just how many awesome designs for fantasy swords we can get here. The ONLY stipulation is, you can NOT ask for a copy of an existing blade such as a Lord of the rings sword or Other movie/novel blades, it has to be an object of pure fantasy designed by you, it can have similar characteristics of blades you've seen out there, but it cant be a direct copy. Like you cant say i want Sephiroths Masamune. BUT you could still say you want an over sized long ass katana and put your own swing to the design. Lets see where this goes...but make sure you keep it realistic...Light-sabers don't exist...don't ask 4 one!

This one, called the "Montoya" obviously inspired by The Princess Bride: 'Round 37 inch blade, with a 1" wide base. 46" overall. 2.4 pounds. Robust spine, deeply hollowground cross-section and wicked sharp to do some damage on the cut as well as the thrust. I'd have the blade made by Craig at Arms & Armor, because nobody makes a quality rapier like A&A. I'd trust them with the complexity and the symbolic 'intangibles' that this blade would need to embody. I don't know what steel they use, but A&A knows what they're doing. The hilt I'd like to have made by Erik Stevenson, from Phoenix Metal Creations, though I've heard he no longer makes swords. Pity. His work is absolutely majestic. If Crom couldn't convince him, then perhaps Vince Evans could take it on, or Craig could do the whole shebang. I like the idea of two artists making it possible. No etchings, no fancy materials, just wire and steel, textured and curved by the hands of artists and craftsmen. I'd maybe have the hilt blued, but that's it. I wanted a sword less gaudy than Inigo's, not more.

My first choice for the sword id have, i actually already have/am working on, thats a long ass katana with a euro hilt. So im gonna go with my second most wanted blade, one ill actually have made one day.
My Smithy of choice would be none other than Brenno Of Fable Blades. Of all the custom workers out there, Brenno's work is my favorite. I really see that he puts his body and soul into every blade, along with the soul of the ones who design the blades. Brendan's attention to detail is amazing and, all of his work seems to have an old Pagan type look to them. A lot of runes and stuff like that incorporated in his designs. I really like Med-evil, Viking, and Celtic, type swords so his work is right up my alley.
So, moving on to the sword itself, I would want a massive 2 handed sword of viking style, like an equivalent of a great sword for vikings. Something similar to Brendan's already existing Nokkelen, but BIGGER. Lets say 35 inch blade, 11 inch handle. 5160 Spring Steel, For the fittings, none other than Bronze castings by Jeffrey Robinson or John Greybeard with a kind of aged/patina look to them, a finish similar to the Conan Atlantean sword. Id want a nice utilitarian polish on the blade, one that looked attractive but also wouldn't look ugly and all scratched to hell after cleaving a poultry one or two enemies in battle. Lulz. Id also want some nice viking rune etchings on the blade that say something meaningful to me. I haven't had time to think about what id want it to say just yet. For the Grip, im thinking some kind of exotic wood, Brenno is famous for his awesome, rare, and totally unique wood handles. (see Crimson Sleep, his Ring Wraith sword, or Even Kings Die for good examples of such wood) For the scabbard, id want a wooden scabbard with some light carving work that's able to be worn over the back when not in use. You couldn't draw a 35 inch monster sword over your back from a regular wooden scabbard, but you look damn cool wearing it! SO there you have it guys, my fantasy design that i shall one day have made regardless of price. my version of ONE SWORD TO RULE THEM ALL, so to speak. Thanks for reading, and i cant wait to see you guy's designs as well! ill work up some drawings to go along with my description.

You'll just have to wait and see I plan on letting Brenno post it on the boards when he's finished. After that I will go into why the blade is designed that way and the symbolism.

too hard to decide because i like many culture... well if it's of the chinese culture probably a kwan dao (too much choices for the chinese department), for the japanese i would go for a nice nihonto feather style (my own design), for a euro i'd go for a nice two hander but not sure about the design yet...
too bad it will never happen though

I'm with ya man.
Jake produces pieces that seem to be flights of fancy, and incorporate themes that seem to be over the top, but manages to pull it all together, resulting in a piece where the design elements play very well.
While not everyone may be drawn to his work, and some may dismiss it out of hand, that lad has some serious skillls going for him. In my opinion his skills have earned him the right to claim the mantle once borne by Jody Sampson.

well id like to be a bit taller for one, so i could use it. But a lenghty katana. 35 inch blade id say. im 6 foot i could manage, with unokubi zukuri blade dsign with a toram hamon, made of the rainbow shell from chrono trigger...and tamahagane forged together!!! Gold ito, blackend brass phoenix themed fittings, and tsuba. Black saya with gold leaves painted on it, and gold sageo.
