Im looking for a good metal that can be fairly easily shaped but not too soft to carve my pommel and crossguard out of. Anyone have any ideas of what i can use and maybe prices or location?

A lot of people disparage brass, but I think it makes for a nice guard and pommel if done well....especially if you antique it after final form, polishing and assembly. Historically, there was a lot of use of iron for hilt furniture as well.

That really depends on your location. Since I am in Texas, I have ready access to scrap quantities at a local large-scale oilfield service machine shop. Barring that, look for anyone in the machinist industry and find out if they will let you dig through their "drops" and sell pieces to you by the pound as scrap.
You can find a good quantity of small pieces of round stock for pommels and guards if the shop does a lot of large parts. That usually results in decent sized scraps.
