Hello All Sword lovers!! I have recently purchased this very unique and unsual sword at a local auction. I have had a few local experts take a look at it; however no one has any information on it. I do not know what metal the handle is made of but its really heavy. It seems to me that its a world family tree of sorts.. it has 2000 years of events on the sword that has effected the entire world in some fashion.
The pictures best describe this heavy duty sword.
Oh and it actually retracts!
There are no markings of an artist or manufacture.
Any help??!!

It is pretty interesting, like I said in the other thread, but I definitely wouldn't consider it particularly valuable given that nobody can identify anything about it. Best guess is it's some kind of homemade turn-of-the-millennium memorabilia. It's unique enough, that's for sure, so I might display it in a shadow-box of some kind, but aside from that...

I have no idea of the metal. It looks to be gold in lay.. It is very heavy, so again not sure. I am sure there are metal testers that I can test the metal. There are 12 significant events over the past 1000 years. One side of the handle has the following listed: All placards have extreme detail depicting the events: 1969 Moon landing 1928 Discovery of Penicillin 1896 First Modern Olympics 1776 US Deceleration of Independence 1206-1227 Genghis Kahn Conquers Asia 1096-1291 the Crusades Other side of the handle: 1989 Germany Reunified Berlin Wall Comes down 1939 World War II 1903 Wright Brothers are first to fly 1815 Napoleons Empire Ends at Waterloo 1492 Columbus Arrives in new world 1180 Rise of the Samurai
The first 1000 years on the blade has 6 events they are as follows: 911 The Vikings invade Europe 800 Carlomagne Crowned Emperor 622 Hegira The Muslim faith begins 476 Fall of the Roman Empire 60 Nero watches as Rome burns 30 The Birth of Christianity

"Vikings invade Europe" - I love how they state it as if the Norse came from somewhere else than Europe itself. Probably blew in from the stellar abysses beyond the North Pole, heralds of Rlim Shaikorth, the White Worm... But yeah, an obvious piece of modern millennial memorabilia. Kinda nifty, though, and I too haven't seen anything like it before, so definitely at least one step above the normal Y2K kitsch. A nice display piece and conversation starter, if nothing else!

Old thread, but resurrecting it because I just identified this sword... It's a "Millennium Peace" sword. It's listed on Bjorn Hellqvist's website, in his Swedish-language section, under "The ugliest swords I've ever seen"... bjorn.foxtail.nu/fulaste.htmtranslate.google.com/translate?j ... ulaste.htm Second link is to Google Translate. Hopefully that works.
