As a fan of the Dragon Age franchise it's no surprise that I'm a big fan of the swords from the series. I'd like one of the big two handed swords for my collection but a close second is the Grey Warden sword seen on the cover and in the game. Unfortunately I can't find a functional version of this sword, just this overpriced prop replica: www.epicweapons.com/da-gw-replica.phpGranted it is a very detailed replica and if it was priced below a hundred dollars I might actually buy it, but for what this site is asking, I'll have to pass. Anyone have an opinion of this sword or know where to get it cheaper? Did anyone ever make a functional version or do I have to take out a commission for that?

Considering that that sword has apparently a large cast-metal guard, and other cast parts, I actually think that $400 is a little low. It's high for a prop sword, don't get me wrong-- if this was an actual cutting blade, though, it would be a pretty good price. Casting parts is expensive because there's a lot more hands-on work... it's cheaper than actually shaping the metal by hand, though! But with all the work that's gone into it, $400 isn't a bad price. Now if you could buy this for a lower price I would suggest going for it, pulling out the prop blade and figuring out how to put in a live blade with a proper tang. Some people have done it with the Lord of the Rings swords, don't see why you couldn't with this.
If you're into this sword that much I'd recommend dropping a line down the direction of Odinblades or Fable Blades if you don't want to buy this particular replica... otherwise it's so niche I don't think you're likely to find it anywhere else.
