Apparently, it's the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy Without further ado....

It certainly looks a lot better than the last one he made. I'd actually like to see this particular buster sword in a functional one-handed size. Hmm, perhaps Brenno'd like the challenge...

I sure hope not... that sword is moronic... you would have to be super-human to use it. I saw another vid from this guy with this sword awhile back... where he chopped at pallets then as well and screamed about his hurt back.

That's why I said a functional one-handed size; something the size of an arming sword or so. The only thing that monstrous size would be good for is crushing bones and that's if you could even lift it.

First off, that buster sword is bigger than the original. At least 6'9 In Final Fantasy 7, Cloud Strife is only 5'8. And the buster sword is shorter than him by inches. I will ask about the price for my resized one now! (: Tell from my picture.

There is no doubt that this sword is ridiculously stupid, BUT I think a lot of the trouble they were having besides the weight was the round handle. Looked like it kept twisting when they hit the pallet.
Either way, funny stuff.
Mike also has a point, it's actually too big. I thought he was wrong at first so I looked up a picture and measured it. Cloud measured 3 1/4" and the sword from pommel to tip was 3" dead on.

I have noticed that the swordsmith always makes swords... too big. BIgger than the originals. I'm not disrespecting him at all. He has talent to make these! But I have seen the WIP pics of this sword... and the handle looks to be screwed on instead of full tang. Big issue for me, but if I were to have him make me the buster sword it would be better built in structural terms. I really like it though Mikejapan

That could be a big problem. I think the handle is indeed part of it, as well as the weight. There's also no telling how thick the blade is, if there's any distal taper, let alone if it even has an edge. I concur on it being too big. I jut measured this image of Cloud, alongside the buster sword; Cloud measured out at 6.5", the sword at 6" long and 1" wide on my screen when the image was at 66% it's full size. The Final Fantasy Wikia lists Cloud's height at 5'7" or 67"; that means Cloud there is approximately 1/10th his full size. Figuring that, the buster sword is 62" overall with a 46" blade, and 16" hilt, so, in reality, the buster sword isn't as huge as everyone makes it out to be. The Hanwei Lowlander is actually 6" longer. However, what makes it seem so massive and unrealistic is its width: it is 6.2" wide all the way up until the point starts. If you cut its width down to say 2-3", you'd probably (I stress this since I'm just guessing) find it a much more manageable sword.

For the love of god why?!? Waste of metal IMO (could have been used to make at least 5 A-Trims ). I understand "having the thing that my heros use" aspect but there is a fine line from obsessive collector and wackadoodles... and these folks have taken a bounding leap over it I feel. But it must be their thing, so, all the power to em....

Theres your problem, the dang thing is 33% too ludicrous to be believed. Of course sized down to 57% of actual size and then measured at 49% of his total height, that sword would still suck.
Yeah, it's redickillus.

I wonder why they included footage of what I assume is his child and wife/girlfriend crying in front of the taarget in protest of him actually using the sword. That was really depressing.

Hehehe... It was to elaborate on the danger of USING the thing... the joke is that he hurt his back so badly from the first video just swing that thing around that if he did it again he might cripple himself. Its a way to spoof how rid-donk-u-lus the damn thing is.

I'm with Sean. Maybe I've just got a twisted sense of humor (maybe? Ha! I do), but I actually laughed at that. Then again, I've seen the first video and remembered his line "I'm either going to break that or my back." It's a self-parody of sorts to say he might cripple himself just by hefting the thing again.

Exactly. I remember that first vid... "I'll either break that pallet, or my back... either way, YouTube wins!" Heh.

For petes sake, it's not even sharp.
Tosh would have wasted that pallet in one swing with his CS Great Sword.

And this is where we go back to physics.
F=MA
So if you can't accelerate that thing at all, there won't be much in the way of force whether it is sharp or not.
Cloud can swing for the fences with a buster sword lightning fast.....mere mortals without mako energy infusion cannot.
In the meantime, I agree and think that sword looks too large even for a Buster Sword.

Like I said on SFI, that is the most accurate Buster Sword replica I have ever seen, and for that alone those guys have my honest respect.
That's sort of the idea, you know.
In comic book terms, Cloud Strife is generaly considered to be a Class 10, which is nerd code for being strong enough to pick up at least ten tons. He also uses this sword to swat semi-auto fire aside.
So, yeah. This sword isn't supposed to be used by a normal human being in the first place.
Because they are Final Fantasy fans. And also enormous nerds. And because they could. "Where there's a way, there's a will," as semprini Valentine put it.
What, you think these guys don't know this is a riduculous weapons? Of course they do! They even tagged the video as "comedy." They're just having fun with it.
No. No, there really isn't. Have you taken a look around the internet lately?
I just don't see why this would be more stupid then spending large sums of money on a historically accurate Patric Barta sword or a traditionally forged katana. These aren't things people these days actually need. They aquire them out of love, and personal satisfaction and bragging rights. So why should realism even matter?
