...there were ZOMBIES! At least, according to the name of a new Windlass blade I found on KoA. Behold, the Genesis Machete! www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=501238&name=Genesis+MacheteFor $65, sharpened, with a sheath and suspension system... this seems like a pretty sweet deal. Do any of you guys have experience with this model? I just saw it for the first time yesterday, and I apologize if this blade is old news, but I thought you all might want to know about it. It sure looks cool to me! Perhaps... might this even be a replica of the machete used in the movie 'The Book of Eli'? I'm not sure; it seems to bear a vague resemblance. What say you, friends? -Slayer

Nice machete. It definitely looks like it was copied from the blade carried by Denzel Washington in Book of Eli. Chris from Scorpion Knives and Bows already makes two blades very similar to this one.

Well, its certainly memorable. Not quite sure what those holes are about, though. The suede would have to go, but it looks like its easily rewrapped. Might investigate.

My guess is that they serve the same function as a bo-hi or fuller, to lighten the blade without sacrificing too much strength.

I think it's a replica of a movie prop, and it has holes in it 'cause it looks cool. Just saying.
It's definitely the blade from The Book of Eli. No offense to windlass, but I'd probably get the version from Scorpion swords if I was to get one. Just looks better all around and the handle looks like it would be A LOT more comfortable. Though it is also a lot more expensive.

Yeah, I think the merit this thing holds is as a 'Musashi' of the fantasy sword world. Maybe not the best sword ever made, but for $65.... if it's decent, it's worth it. Kind of a fun backyard chopper that you can use without having to risk a $150+ sword on less-than-ideal targets. Besides, it looks cool. I won't argue that Scorpion does a better version, but for $200 more, I'd get a VA303S, instead. -Slayer
