So..I was wondering if anybody does or know anybody, that has the new Robin Hood sword. I am considering this sword for possibly cutting but definitely for a Faire sword. Even though it would be more for Faire, I still wonder about the price vs. quality, if I choose to cut with it. The cheapest I have seen it is on KOA for:$189.95 not bad..but, throw in the beautiful matching scabbard, belt and pouch combo(for Faire of course), and the price jumps up a lot. And I would like to know the quality of the belt combo too. But as I'm sure most of you guys know, with Windlass movie swords and costumes, the prices can be a little uhhh, high. Any thoughts or advice?
Also, I have been looking at the Oakshott Type XVIII..any thoughts on that one?

Eh. Good-looking for a windlass, but doesn't seem very special, other than the movie grip (which I think looks kind of gaudy). Could be a pretty good piece, but I don't see much to justify the price other than the "Robin Hood" tie-in. I certainly wouldn't pay $360 for that scabbard&sword combo. By that point you're only $40 shy of a Valiant Armoury Signature Crusader, which has a well-earned reputation for being a swift-handling sword, some of the best leatherwork available anywhere and a blade based on a Gus Trim design. And it's more than a pound lighter. True, there's no words on the grip, but it looks a whole hell of a lot more comfortable. VA CrusaderAs for the Windlass "Oakeshott," it's another one of Windlass's better-looking pieces, but it's a pretty blatant attempt to copy the VA signatures (as the maletesta-like scabbard has no precedence for a one-handled weapon) and they aren't doing a good enough job to warrant my attention. It's not an ugly piece by any means, but the odd blade profile for a type XVIII, the dimensions, and the stitched grip are enough to steer me away. Until things improve by a few more leaps and bounds, if I want a blade that looks like a VA, I'd just get a sword made by VA.

Yea, I agree. I do love the VA Castile Sig series. That is one beautiful sword! Only thing that bugs me..is the damn hex nut in the pommel. I just can't get past that.
After seeing the Robin sword on youtube, I think I will pass. The crossguard and pommel, are too high polished and looks way too much like a wall-hanger.
