So, I've had my bow for a while now. I consider myself familiar with it, but by now means a master.
Lately I've begun to worry about the finish of my bow. When I received it, there wasn't any staining or paint applied. But now that I'm going through seasons with it, I'm wondering if I shouldn't do something to it go keep the change in temperature/humidity from damaging the bow.
So far it hasn't changed from it's original shape.
But what type of stain/sealer/paint/ etc etc should I put on it? I have some furniture stain that I got for a project a while back. It's a nice dark brown/red that would look charming on the bow, but I'm not sure if it would damage it's preformance. I also have some oil based lacquer. I applied some when I had attempted to make my own arrows and it didn't seem to bow the arrow any, but I'm wondering if the lacquer might be to ridgid. Which, in the long run, stiffining up my bow wouldn't be a bad thing.
Any thoughts?

Wood stain is just a colouring agent; it shouldn't affect the performance other than temporarily adding water or oil to the bow's wood, and once it dries it should be normal. I wouldn't personally use lacquer, but a varnish should have enough flex in it, especially a polyurethane-based one, to work fine on a wooden bow.
