That's a pretty good looking sword; if you don't mind my asking, what's the inscription mean?

it means litterally ''An unholy thing will not survive this sword'' but it also mean in other words (the way i meant it) ''No unholy creature shall survive this blade''.
by the way it is written ''res insanctum hunc gladium non superabit'' on the blade (just because some letters seem to be a little off)

not so long ago i had a choice between a langsax and a euro fantasy sword. this fantasy sword is a modified version of the the above van helsing design for a bastard sword with a more anduril feel to it, the base modifications were made by wes (saito on sbg)because i was too puzzled about how i should have draw it, i used wes's base to go closer to what i have envisionned since from a person to another views can differ. i thought i would share what i envisioned with you guys, this one will probably be made soon if i can get the money the government owe me ^^'. here'S a more detailed sketch of the pommel (i made the pommel bigger because i forgot some infos when i made the complete sketch

I really like the pommel. The only thing I might change would be to make the guard longer (wider) as it looks a little disproportionate the length it is now.

it is supposed to be like 8 inches long so i don't really know if it's enough or what width would work more :? been a while since i last draw a design so i'm pretty rusty  any ideas is welcome

Ive been thinking of some dao lately because of the dadao and there are my take on it, i don't know if it was done historically but personally i like the look of those. please note that in the design the handle is pretty much like the condor dadao (wood slabs riveted to the wide tang) exept that it would be wraped in a kind of gangi maki style wrap please tell me your impressions on it, on the left one i used a ''yang dao'' guard and on the left one i used a standard dao guard. i'd like to have one of these made, is there a maker i could contact to make it relatively cheap but still of good quality? a friend pointed baltimore knife&sword, is there someone else? i'll try to find the best pricing depending on the answers. thanks for looking

These daos look good to me. I've seen ring pommels only on dadao & old Han / Tang straight dao & jian, but I *like* ring pommels so I vote yes. If it were me I would also put a collar on it like many Chinese swords have...I think that makes it more likely you can get a good fit into the scabbard without scratching the blade (?).

i wonder how much sinosword would price it... it's one of the only forge that i could think of who could make it for cheap unless someone have another option? for a collar it would probably be the only choice for me so far as i'm not familiar with forges for custom, also i want to put a TH blade (i'Ve seen many DH blades on those on sinosword website but no TH).
sad i don't have the money to have one made though i just hope that if i have it made by them that they would not make mistakes...

Ulterior motive alert: I might order from Sinosword later and my evil plot is to incite everyone else to order first so I can read the reviews before I decide I'd *guess* around $200 if you stick to plain fittings. Their plain fittings oxtail dao for $198 seems a lot like your concept except for the ring pommel. And I think plain fittings go well with the dadao-style wrapped handle and pommel. Yes, no TH on their site, but if you can live with T10 mono DH it shouldn't bee too expensive. Everything in their Chinese section over $250 is folded. All the separate bits of your concept seem to show up in one or another of their swords on either the current or old sites, so there shouldn't be any expensive "gee, how do I...". But I suspect their ring pommels are welded and wouldn't be as strong as the one on the Condor dadao.
