I agree that they should have some kistch, just not enough to make it look cheap and especially not hinder performance. But definately something!
The Warder and the Dark Sentinel are 2 very different swords. Other than both being curved, they have little else in common.
The Warder blade has a thick spine, a fuller, and a short false edge. It has way more blade presence that the Sentinel. It is well balanced so it is lightening fast. Definately an excellent heavy cutter. Can easily be used one handed, but shines in 2 handed use. The Warder weighs in at 2lbs 8oz. Much of that weight is blade.
The Sentinel's blade is a diamond shape. The back edge is so thin that it can be sharpened with a bit of work....not that anyone would want to: just pointing out the thinness of the blade. I read that the blade is based on Swiss Dueling Sabers. It also is much lighter and has less blade presence. It is an excellent cutter once sharpened thanks to that thin blade. Despite the weight it is hard to one hand this thanks to the long, long, long grip. The DS weighs in at just over 2 pounds and much of that weight is the grip.
2 very good swords, but different. Although the Warder is a better sword in almost every way, the DS is an outrageous bargain at sub $100. And at that price get the Warder and the DS.

The only drawback to the Dark Sentinel is that honking long grip. The scabbard isn't really top quality, but it is entirely serviceable. As stated before, for less than 100$, it is hard to justify not trying it out. Shootermike, or Mike Harris as he is registered here, shortened the grip on one, he may be able to give some impressions of how it changed the handling characteristics.

Raven armoury swords are not, I repeat NOT production swords in any sense of the word.
Dave: you are pimpin' that picture everywhere lol, keep it up my man and I agree that it is probably one of the most unique fantasy swords besides the sword of the wild wind.
I don't think the silvia ringare is as attractive as the simpler ringare original on the original odinblade website (could be the fuller ).
I think if you stripped away the handle on the dark sentinel and redid it, it would be a fantastic base blade for a two handed sabre. I've always wanted one of those but the length restrictions into Australia have always stopped me from picking it up.
I must be the only one who doesn't like the aesthetics of the warder, I also don't really think that it matches my own vision of the swords from the books. Someone needs to make Matrim's spear.

I love the blade but had my doubts about the hilt from day one, particularly the guard. Over-all, I still want one, though. That said, this upcoming redesign I've heard about sounds promising. I agree it doesn't match my idea of the WoT swords ( this one is a lot closer) but I don't mind that - I kinda prefer that they're only kinda inspired by the books.

I have the current Warder, but Anders is right, this one is the one that I really want. Lets hope that they can do a production model of it, or based on it.

When reading the Wheel of Time series I also had a totally different sword in mind from the Warder. I would like to see a "heron" mark somewhere on the pommel and something a bit more flashy. Another favorite was the Dark Elf series by Salvatore and those battle ready blades by Windlass - I think Vince linked them earlier in the thread. Talking about flashy...I would like a battle ready version of Frostmourne. Only SLOs exist atm. Maybe in the future when I can save up a bit and afford BB's work. hopefully designed with less weight...

Dave: unfortunately the only picture I've been able to find of this elusive sword is this one;
It is such an interesting sword though.
Part of what I don't like about the warder is that the blade looks extremely wide and for sabres and things I prefer a more elegant and fragile-looking blade, especially for something that has the properties that the warder swords do. I would like to see a warder with a thinner blade in terms of width and a fishtail pommel.

Sorry for the small picture but it seems that I can't find a decent one anywhere.
I always thought, despite the hideous eye on the pommel and my bad experiences with windlass, that this sword was a fun fantasy blade. Unfortunately it's out of production and have absolutely no idea of its capabilities.
I'll agree with many on here that John Lundemo offers some of the best work. He has always been prompt with emails back to me when I inquire about his swords and I can't wait to finally get my hand on one of his fantasy pieces.

erhmm to be honest I carn't remember I got it a few years ago thought it was from reilks but I just looked on there site and no go. I'm currently in the middle of cataloging my swords for my insurance but there are some up the back that I havn't handled in a while, I remember the blurb on it, it is a windlass and it was a merceny /guard sword it has a a tactical hilt just fastened to the blade wasn't very expensive either. I bought it because I liked the shape. Sorry Wraith

A sword that I picked up back around 2002 from Windlass Steelcrafts was the "Evil's Bane". It's a two handed, single edged, slightly curved sword of Longsword/Greatsword dimensions (right around 48" overall length and 4 pounds in weight). A lot of my friends have commented on how they like the feel/handling of it and I know that my brother would pick one up in a heartbeat if it came back on to the market.721.jpg

It's not Windlass, but Kult of Athena sells something very similar under the name of "Two-Handed Fantasy Scimitar":
