I have no particular difficulty with the 15" Sirupate from Khukuri House, purchased second-hand from a member here. Just over 3/4" thick, bit more than 1cm, depending who's looking at it. Then again, I'm not a small person. The 10" Army model I have is a featherweight...but I remember thinking it hefty once. Some of you guys are just sissies, I guess.  etc.

HaHa! Of course the Sirupate style has a more slender blade than the typical kukri that is why the 15" Sirupate (3/8" thick) from the Kukri house only weighs 2.2 lbs. You need to step up to a man sized blade.

I think I'll pass on buying you one. Seriously though, I actually prefer the sirupate style. I believe it is a superior weapon to the more traditional kukri, it handles better IMO. If I decide to buy another, for me that is  , it will likely be a sirupate kukri.

Yeah, I love my sirupate. I was intrigued by the narrower profile and subtler curve, and when I saw...shoot, was it szabla?...put his on sale in the old classifieds for nearly nothing, I dove into it.
A few bandages later, it's my favorite middleweight.
I rather like the shape of the WW1-era models and their descendants but I forget the actual name of the style. My next well probably be one of those, though. Eventually I'd love to have one of the monster three-foot buffalo choppers, but for now, the pennies are going into a jar.

I'd like to have a WWI or WWII era kukri also. The ones that the Gurkhas actually used in battle.

Sorry for my first post hear and not an introduction in the beginners form. I drank the HI cool aid. I have A matched pair of 18 1/2 inch M-43s (wicked weapon and tool) A 17 in foxy folie (Sexy sweet) 22 inch Bonecutter (Beast) 9 in Bilton (Edc handy) Ak bowie Udda Sword My wife has; 16 in ak Hasiya (Sickle) My Daughter Has; Pen Knife Kagas Katne (paper cutter) I gave my Brother my Uncle Bill Especial and my Father in law a 16 in Ganga Ram. I like thereporduct. Let me say that the Price/quality/service is some of the best 'Bang for the buck" you will get. Yangdu, the owner is great to deal with, and stands by her product. This is a small company established to help support the Kamis (knife makers) and there families in a very poor country. These are hand made (crafted) tools and will get the job done larger than there size. The only problem is thinking you can buy just one. HIKV, Himalayan Imports Kurkri Virus. Check the form there is much more than whats listed on the store site: www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=739

Hello Figmo ! Welcome to SBG, I hope you will have a great time hanging out here I myself own one of HI's many kukris and I love it. If I had more money and if I was less scared of beeing branded a nut case by my family, I'd get many more blades from their catalog. By the way, have your first karma from me for that bladeforums page, I found many HI blades that I didn't know on it

Oh. You could've gotten the 5+ discount if you'd ordered one more item, right? Regardless, that sounds like a pretty nice haul you got there, vince! I plan to order from KH as well, eventually, so I'm interested to hear how your order goes.

I had thought about that but I was able to get a better deal. I got the life time discount, 10% off of the the price for any purchase, also 10% off the shipping and handling ($82.00).
It does take awhile to get your order, a few weeks at the least

Thanks for the Karma.
If the info cant be found on the BF page, and there is lots of info there, you can contact Yangdu direct and tell her what you want (length, weight, task) and she will help point you in the right direction. She is very knowledgeable, grew up with a Kukiri(s) in her hand, and very helpful. They will also do custom orders, thats how I got the matched set of M-43s. Same length weight and by the same kami so they feel well in each hand.
I am not affiliated but do think there a great company and a worthy clause.

Yeah, I heard alot about them, their blades and the social aspect of their work. I too think they are a worthy cause to support. Supporting them by buying their stuff isn't very hard, considering the nice blades you can buy from them.
