Hello all, Some of us have been talkiing of archery lately so I was just wondering, what is your favorite bow? Post a pic of it. Mine is a Northern Mist Bamboo Longbow (4 lams of bamboo and clear glass), 60lb. It is smoother than many recurves I have shot. I have an old Hoyt 60lb recurve, a 45 pounder and a 35 lb,. But this longbow is my favorite bow!
Below are a couple of pics of mine. And no comments about the gut, I have lost 50 lbs since the pics were taken. LOL! And also, a helmet with a nasal guard and all is no good for archery. It obstructs your aim. FB

I normally achor with my "bird" finger's tip at the corner of my mouth. But with that "bespecticle" helmet, or whatever they call that type, was in the way. I will have to get or make something else to wear on my head that won't obstruct my anchor hold or my aim. FB

Since I didn't post on this originally and we have had some new folks interested in archery I thought I would bring this thread back. My favorite bow is the one I currently own the Samick Sage. A great no tools takedown recurve bow. my review on it viewtopic.php?f=33&p=157427 But I also really dig the bow from the TV series Crusoe I love these double bow designs. They are very cool. This design is based on the Penobscot bow. I have to say I really like the bow quiver made for it too. Very cool design.

I can't get into photobucket here to get the links to my bows, but I have a 45# and an 80# Whipporwhil Longbow. Both are self bows. The light one is Mulberry and the heavier one is orange osage. D-shaped cross-section. I just don't do flat limbs anymore. I have had both a D-limb and a Flat Limb fail on me and where the D-limb merely failed to spring back to position after being released from full draw, the flat limb exploded.

52 lbs. Rather difficult to shoot with a thumbring, mostly as I'm still not used to it. I have a modern target recurve, but that is in another location. Will post it later.

This is my usual bow. Nothing fancy, a cheap Chinese Chinese/Mongol style bow. As the picture shows, it can manage a 100cm draw, which is useful for thumb draw (don't need 100cm, but close to 90cm is good). Mine is supposed 45lb at 28". Haven't measured the force-draw curve. Easy, friendly, doesn't stack too much to at least 90cm. This is perhaps my best bow, a Samick Mind 50, 45lb at 30". I don't shoot it as much as the one above (I'm willing to leave the one above strung, but not this one, so it's not as immediately available). It's much faster than the above bow. Also long-draw, good for thumb draw. Working recurve as opposed to the static recurve above. Attachments:

My favourites are my recurve bows, I have a Hoyt Gamemaster II, length 62 inches, 45lb draw @ 28", takedown design, aluminium riser, wood core composite limbs. The other is a Martin Archery Mamba - length 58", 50 lb draw @ 28", one piece, riser wood Bubinga with an outlined Shedua stripe down the center, limbs of Eastern Hard Maple laminations with black fiberglass.

My favorite and current go-to is my samick volcano recurve. Pictures really don't do her justice.

I did not get one, sorry for getting your hopes up. I have the Samick Sage, and said I liked the Robinson Crusoe bow. Not that I had one of them. That bow was custom made for the show and I don't know of anyone selling replicas. That style of bow is an authentic style and they are made, though I don't know anyone who sells them. *edit to add I did quick search for "Penobscot bow" I found one for $185 www.woodlandarchery.com/prod12.htmwww.woodlandarchery.com/images/pnb2.jpg

Ah fair enough.Actually I believe a company called White Wolf archery or something similar make 2 more modern versions of the Penobscott bow but they both go for around $1000 and to be honest I actually prefer the Crusoe bow.My personal favourite that I've been hunting with for 17 years is a 75# martin longbow that I've just recently turned into a 2 piece takedown.Man,the amount of game I've shot with that old thing!

Well, technically it's a bow so here it goes: Excalibur Phoenix with Barnett Scope and string suppressor system. I absolutely adore that thing

Yeah, I finally got one!! Went for the Phoenix instead of the Ibex as originally planned and am glad I did. The safety just is easier to engage with a traditional stock and I prefer the aluminum over the plastic rail. Your Miss Vixen is a beauty, too!! That black looks very sharp. What did you do with the stirrup? Some cover to protect the finish?
