Mostly looking for the best quality for the lowest price, medieval, rennisance and 19th century military styles prefered.
Nothing too big, just a nice little toy I can slip somewhere handy.

You can try Tod. I ordered the mersicord dagger from him. WIth shipping and conversion that was a bit above 100 bucks. Considering that windlass dagger with shipping and sharpening is gonna be around that price, I would say it's a bargin. Course some of the fancier stuff is upwards of 250ish range...but that too is worth it . www.todsstuff.co.uk/theenglishcutler/knives/knives.htm

Anyone have experience with the Darksword Armoury Medieval Dagger? Or the Windlass Poignard.

DSA daggers, like their swords are over-weight and badly balanced...just not as noticable as their swords because they are smaller . The windlass is balanced poorly. It feels very off in hand and the grip isn't very good for a quillion dagger. You really should check out the english cutler. The stuff on there normally cost double or triple what they are listed there for if he was to make those as one off commisions.

I'd avoid shipping overseas if possible. What about the 17th century silver plated dagger by Windlass?

Well the shipping cost is quite reasonable actually...less then 20 bucks in most cases. Unless there is another reason you don't like international orders....
Edit: Never held that windlass...but I don't think that dagger would feel very good in hand either. If you MUST get a windlass, the medieval dagger feels pretty good. Also the KC bollock dagger isn't bad either for something you can get shipped from the states.

I checked, for some reason I assumed an absurdly expensive shipping cost.
I decided to grab the 8'5 inch quillon dagger. Hopefully customs and shipping doesn't take too long.

Yeah well instead of discounting the VAT to us international customers, he just gives us a price break on shipping costs . But for those prices, it really does blow stuff like DSA or windlass out of the waters.

How long does it usually take them to ship stuff out? I haven't gotten any notification from them.

Not that long. I ordered mine on holloween. The order was shipped on the 2nd and it's already in the states. Since I'm in the west coast I'll get it in another 5-11 days.

Well, it's been 2 weeks, and I've e-mailed and called them repeatedly, to no response. Any advice on how to get my money back?

Well mine just came today. So that was 12 days from ordering. Hit a little snafu as the USPS didn't seem to know they had the package...but since you ordered yours about 5 days after I did, you should be coming in about that long . You can't possible have been waiting two weeks since your dagger order was after mine.

Well, never mind, I lost track of it since they never sent me a tracking number.
I finally got ahold of them, and they sent me all the info, and it appears I'm just waiting for tommorow to come so I can go pick it up at the local post office.

Well the reason he probably took so long to reply was that the USPS seems to have been having some issues. Me and three other guys who ordered from Tod has been told by USPS that our knives were still being held by royal mail while royal mail said USPS had it. Of course USPS had the knives as all 4 of us got the knives within 1 or 2 days of calling USPS . Not Tod's fault in any form that USPS messed up and didn't realize they had our packages in the states in transit. But I did keep him somewhat busy because of the SNAFU and I'm sure the other 3 guys did as well .

He apparently thought my emails asking about the order were spam. I had to open a dispute in paypal. Heh.

Well that's odd...even my free yahoo one didn't show up as spam for him. Unless you have a company addy, like littleJP@clorox.com or something...in which case get a free e-mail because a lot of places will trigger e-mail from such an address as spam. I should know, I get a TON of KP.org (Kaiser Permenante) e-mail for work and my yahoo account keeps placing those in my spam folder by default...even when I tell it not to.

Well, I had different names on my accounts. Ha, anyway, I got it today, played a little with it, and wrote up a review for it. Tell me what you think of it.

Well that will also trigger spam filters...silly JP . Glad you like the dagger. Yeah I need to get my camera working so I can do a review of my dagger as well. Mine has an almost diamond cross so it's really not a good cutter...but it's a bloody fast blade.
