Has anyone tried out the SOG Aura Seal Bowie Knife? Something about the curves I like. I prefer non stainless so interested if someone has put it through some paces. Here's a link sogknives.com/store/AU-03.html Cheers, Rob

I have been eyeing one version of that SOG knife (this one : www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store ... ?s=SOGAU01 ). It is a nice looking knife, it seems practical and well-priced.

Hey, Marc, what's that massive one at the top? It looks sort like a sax style blade.

LOL ... actually thats quite funny ... That thing started life as the most horrible thing imaginable... a BudK ningi-type sword... I was given it by a well meaning , but sword ignorant person... So... I cut it down and cut the "tsuba" down, wrapped the tang with rope... voila , my little tac-dagger

Nice, old-school collection Marc. That recycled Buck blade looks great, too Awesome stuff man, I like all these knives. You should try making reviews, if you want

As far as fixed blade knives go, I've always been partial to puukko and leuku styled ones. I currently own a Känkaanpää puukko/leuku set as well as a Woods Jewel puukko/leuku set. Lately I've had my eye on a Järvenpää leuku/puukko set and an Ahti puukko (commonly sold under the Kellam name). I also have a Sissipuukko M.95
Folders I have mostly stuck with Buck knives because they are affordable, well made, and their heat treatment supervised by Paul Bos is legendary. I currently own their 110, Omni Hunter, BuckLite, and 119 Special (technically fixed). I'm planning on picking up one of their Vantage line knives and the CSAR-T folder fairly soon.

I like those scandinavian knives, I have been considering getting one for some time.
Do you know places where I can buy these knives, in north america ?

There's a number of places you can find them, the two most common being through Kellam and Ragweed Forge. Kellam has a wider selection of Finnish knives than Ragweed Forge does, but unfortunately they are not only more of an "official" middle man so they have higher prices, they do not give the full name of the lines that they sell for some reason that escapes me. Instead they simply give initials to their lines, which can be confusing if the buyer does not know what each line is. Definitely research what line is made by who before buying. Ragweed Forge carries Norwegian and Swedish knives in addition to some Finnish ones, but not as wide as a selection as Kellam as far as Finnish ones go. Ragweed is less of a middle man, so he sells the knives of the same maker cheaper than Kellam. I have not bought through the Ragweed, but I have read nothing but good things about his service. A couple other other places off the top of my head are Bens Back Woods and Cloudberry Market, which is owned by a Finnish immigrant married to an American. Let me know if I can be any more help

Thanks for these links and sites people. I will use them when I shop for scandinavian knives. I have another question for you. I am looking for Stromeng knives ; www.ragweedforge.com/StromengCatalog.htmlI haven't found them anywhere, except at Ragweed's Forge (who is out of stock of nearly all the models that I like) ...

Hmm that is a head scratcher. Ragweed's Forge is the only one I know that deals in Stromeng blades in North America (or at least in English). I would recommend giving a call or shooting the owner an email. From what I've gathered he keeps himself updated on when the next shipment is coming in. Stromeng knives are rather popular and tend to sell out rather quickly once they are back in stock.

Thank you And here is a thank you in return in the form of a Stromeng in action in a comparison between a khukuri, leuku, and RTAKII survival knife. The smaller and lighter leuku is not as powerful for chopping, but the leuku is meant to able to be used as a hunting/skinning knife as well. You can usually tell whether or not a leuku is a Stromeng by the rainbow colored emblem commonly found on the sheath (you can see it on the sheath right at the beginning): Disclaimer: This is not me, but rather the Youtube user, KoaBushcraft. EDIT: Hmmm can not seem to get the embed version to work :?

miekka, you just cut the combination after the equation mark from the video link, in this case it is --pgzArjurg and put it in the code.
you'll get something like this:
hope it helped.
oh, and thanks for the video.
