Two weeks to the day of postal limbo and my order from Filofiel finally shows up. Took a picture of the new knife with the original, for comparison sake. Gotta admit, the black horn on the original was much nicer than it is on the new, but that's the gamble with horn. I'm not sure if the white horn on the original was ever as white as it is on the new one, but I'm sure it'll yellow over time. I'm also really upset that it doesn't have the red spacers/inlays/whatever you call them like the original does. Boo. Still no word from Cuchilleria Albacete about the other knives; might have to drop them a message... Attachments:

Yeah any natural material you get variation in color, grain etc. hope the others show up soon.

I wasn't sold on the design when I ordered the first one, but it was different enough to the other four knives, all in the same "bandolera" style, and not much more expensive, so I threw it in as a curiosity. It turned into my favorite knife, ever, hands-down. Surprising ergonomics, fantastic size, and for years kept a great edge. Even this one, though it came with a rolled edge, is shaving sharp with just a few swipes on a honing steel. So far the action isn't as smooth as the old one, but the old one took a lot of breaking-in, too. If I wanted to pick nits and complain about something other than the shipping fiasco, it would be that the rivets in the white horn are not decorated on the new knife like they were on the old. Otherwise, I'm pleased with it. Might take it to the strop later and see if I can't get the rest of the edge in line as it's still spotty, but overall where I expected it to be from this maker. (I've bought several knives from J.J. Martinez over the years and really like them)
Oh, and I've sent an email to the other shop to see what's up with that order. We'll see where that goes.

Sent another email, this time got a reply. Seems the knife I'm wanting to replace is out of stock. They offered to replace it with the next size up if the same model or a different knife, if I chose, or to cancel/refund the missing knife and ship the other knife alone.
I've asked to cancel the whole order for a full refund, so we'll see where that goes. If I wind up locked in on the one knife, that'll be fine, too.

Got a refund from Cuchilleria Albacete today. Guess I'll keep looking for the replacement, but in the meantime I started carrying the old Celaya I bought years ago and darn it I lost that one, somehow, too. I don't know what I'm doing.
Meanwhile, the new JJ Martinez is breaking in nicely, so that's a plus.

Designed by Tommaso Rumici and Robert Young Pelton bottle opener 1/4" hex driver tool. Made by Lionsteel from Lohmann Niolox steel cyro-hardened to 61HRC. DPX HEFT 4 WOODSMAN KNIFE Now seriously, all jokes aside, if survivalist in the middle of any wilderness especially Sahara needs open bottle of whatever he must have this knife. I imagine stuation when somebody find himself in dry out oasis and find case of good old fashioned coca cola bottles in refrigerator left by Bedouins and dont have this knife. Or in middle of appocalic disaster person of interest needs disassembly thing but he don't have screwdriver...and he didn't buy DPX HEFT 4 Woodsman when he had chance. In better scenario he bought the knife and even prepared the knife for such situations with placing philips and flat bitts in handle compartment...but he can't find nothing to disassembly handle. Ok nooow seriously the knife feels nice. Well balanced. Nice finish. Good quality handle hardware. Handmade leather sheath.

Condor Ironpath. Designed by Joe Flowers. This my first Condor made knife. I was looking on Condor's knives and Ironpath attracted my attention so I odered it from Knifecenter. When I got the knife I was happy how the knife feels. Minute later I was disappointed with blade finish. And quality of leather sheath. Leather is soft and has shiny outlook. Looks fake. Right from the box knife was sharp enough to NOT to cut paper. Any paper. Blade finish: uneven polish and because of what (I didn't know at the moment) anti rust protective/ stock storage clear coat looked just ugly. I didn't return the knife having plan to polish the blade. I don't have pictures of original blade look. When the day-good-for-blade-polishing conditions appeared I started working on blade with 400 grit paper. I was surprised with white powder clogging paper. I googled Condor knives clear coat and I found out the thing with anti rust thing. Polishing (400 grit and 800 grit) took some 7 200 seconds until I was enough satisfied. Then acid solution wash and Mother's polish. I used Milkpaint's "Half & Half the perfect blend of Pure Tung oil+Cirus Solven" on the walnut scales. I like this knife very much for lines, weight distribution, handle ergonomics. With blade "sharplessness" its ok even better then ok because I like the knife so much that when I practise Sudoku holding the Ironpath I'm safe. No lol. The sheath well whatever. The one presented on 2018 blade show would be much "gooder" With Esee Junglas

Knife made by polish knife maker Adam Kornalski- ODC 135 . I bought this knife about year ago. One of my favorite knives from my collection. Blade is made from Bohler M390 steel. Hardened to 60HRC. OAL 10.24" ( 260mm). Blade 5.31" ( 135mm). Blade width 1.42" ( 36mm). Thickness .142 (3.6mm). Olive wood scales with red G10 liners. Stainless sleel M5 torx screws. Stonewashed finish. With balance point on index finger the knife feels light with high degree blade control. The handle has very good ergonomics. _

That's a nice, simple little knife.
Been ages since I bought a new knife. Just realized yesterday it's been over two years since I bought the one I carry every day.

Yup, hehe, have to reorder a few rolls. My Munich Sidesword needs a grip wrap so bad. And I'm yet to find out what to do with the folders.

The D-Guard Bowie looks to be more efficient with the wrap. I’ve toyed with the idea for a couple of years at least but it keeps getting put aside. Now it’s back on again. You must own some stock in the wrapping company.
