Cool. I'll check out the Wildsteer, though a bit out of my price range. Oh, and if anyone is wondering, I've decided on the Cold Steel Rajah III. Sweet looking knife, within my blade limit, $66, has Carpenter CTS BD1 steel, and very, very tough. As this video shows batoning with it. Video Link And this video shows some pretty abusive things done to it. Video Link Oh, and I didn't mention the cool "wave" thumb plate! All in all it seems to be one awesome knife, and economical too! I'll have to post a review when I get it.

The Rajah line is an interesting design, essentially miniature folding kukris, but not as cool. Wildsteer is definitely pricey, but I'm pleased with mine for the desk ornament it has come to be...

Haha. Desk ornament. And yes, who wouldn't want a folding kukris in your pocket!

Okay, seems I placed a order for the Cold Steel Finn Wolf instead... haha. I was interested in the scandi grind, heard lots of good things about it, and it was $38. So I'll tell you when I get it.

A little worried by lots of problems with edge damage I heard about with the 2015 models, but I think it will work out. I'm thinking that the early model was poorly made, but they stepped up the QC in the end, because I've heard some really good things about the Finn Wolf too. Don't know if those were latter models though...

I like the looks of that. Well, I don't like that much of the handle to stick out, but the design looks like you wouldn't be able to get it much deeper than that. I do like that handle shape, looks nice and secure. Also, I like that nice little stop-pin it has. I hope it works out for you. Maybe think about putting up a review on it?

Yeah, I'll do a review once I get it from Knifecenter. First time buying from Knifecenter too. I heard good things about them though, so I gave it a try.

Hey guys! Not a very experienced knife guy (only have 2 right now - a karambit and a custom bowie). Help me choose a nice design for field work: From top to bottom, 1-3. So I love 1's handle more than the others, but the color of the rattan and the wood are really dull. I really like 2 but the clip point is very non-traditional (I like traditional). I also like 3 - it might be my slight favorite. Anyone with contrary thoughts? I will mostly work with grass/bamboo and maybe meat using these knives. More pics here:

Something about the first one puts me off, it looks odd. Maybe it's h just the colors? I really like the size of the second one, but it's not really calling to me, either. Number three, though, keeps telling me it's "just a little bit" bigger than I typically like..."just a little bit"...

Weee! Got the Cold Steel Finn Wolf about a week ago. Really happy with it so far. Perfect fit and finish. No edge rolling, tried it out on some oak. Razor sharp, and has held so for a week of use. Did baton with it too, and it took it like a champ. Rock solid lock up. I love the ergos on it. Fits my hand perfect. I thought I might have detected some wiggle in the blade after I threw it. But I don't think so. I sat there for like 5 min trying to decide. lol. The lock was a little stiff and start, like everyone says. Now it is solid, but not stiff. This knife is THE most solid knife I have EVER felt. I have now worries about the lock failing, after watching guys beat this knife up more than I did on youtube. But I still cringe when I use it hard. But hey, it was $38. So I won't cry if I break or lose it. BTW this knife is very good at saving sheep from strangling! I would have wanted a Cold Steel Tuff lite, because it doesn't have a point. But the Finn Wolf worked good. And that brings me to another point. Serrated blades. What are your guys thoughts on serrated blades? Fully serrated too. (BTW, that is just a picture I grabbed off the net. Didn't have the time to snap good pics of my blade)

This is my 'go to' when I go in the bush. Nothing fancy, but I like it I did some modifications to SCHRADE SCHF38 - After stripping I satin it and after I decided to force some vinegar patina on it - I rounded the gimping - And I enlarged the existing small choil because I want to be able to sharpen all the blade with minimal tools like Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener. In the beginning it was like this: and the final product is like this (it's shaving sharp, ready for new field action):

Nice work on that Schrade, it looks much better.
I somehow managed to lose my Manly, and am deeply saddened. It's in my house, somewhere, and I'll be looking for it my next day off...but it's been an odd three days now without it.
I still want to buy a new JJ Martinez arabe, since I had to retire mine, and I've also yet to acquire Citadel's Baltic in any form, much less the 1RS+ I've been wanting. Don't get me started on the Fontenille de Pataud laguiole I was once looking at...
Now the lady wants a Manly of her own, and I can't even find them anywhere. Thinking to email them directly and see what it takes to ship outside of the EU...

I went through a weird phase where I could not hold on to a knife for more than a few days. It was this summer... I was cutting down some weeds with my RAT 1 (in the dark) and tossing the weeds over a fence. Chop, toss, chop, toss, chop, toss... hey, wait, did I just throw my knife away with the weeds?! Yep. Right into a thicket of trees. I looked for it for a couple days (I lost it right out behind the house), but no luck. So... I went a couple days without a knife. Then my brother says, "Hey, why don't you borrow my CS Finn Wolf?". I carried that for probably...a day? Then I came upstairs after a couple hours of digging out the basement... checked my pocket... yep, gone too. Looked for that for a couple of days, couldn't find it, so ended up buying a CS Broken Skull for myself and a CS Lone Star for my bro. Now if only I can hold on to this one....

A journeyman smith named Ben Seward.

Thanks Random, and it feels great in hand too. I realized that for any other than Victorinox products I tend to change something in the original design that catches my attention. This is the path toward making (or sending out) my own designs or not buying production knives at all.
I hope you find your missing knife
PS that Bowie is very nice.
