VA base model Actium short review by : Tomi Lakkinen, Hyvinkää, Finland
Okay this is my very first review so please bear with me and be gentle  ....
Introduction
Valiant armory reproduction of late rebublic era gladius hispaniensis. I ordered this sword from kult of athena and it was a good deal.
Historical Overview
I´m not an expert of this category but for my own opinion it is somehow historical and it looks just like gladius should.
Initial impressions
The sword was in two boxes for added protection, it was packaged well and inside of that largerbox had thin cardboard padding. Sword came undamaged.. Now when i opened that and see first time my Actium my first impression was WOW!..
It is just like i imagined very attractive nice little sword.
Statistics
Blade Length: 25.25”
Handle Length: 4.15”
Overall Length: 32.25”
Guard Width: 2.75”
PoB (Point of Balance): 5.0”
CoP (Center of Percussion): 19.0”
Weight: 1lbs, 15oz
Components
The scabbard and sword are beautifully done. Blade has this satin finish that make it looks like very very nice. The fullers are slightly different length and that give the sword nice authentic handmade character. The point is needle sharp and The sword fits snugly in the scabbard. The handle is very nice and well done and it fits my hand like it made to me custom. Pommel of this gladius is very big but to my opinion very attractive and to me it is also very functional.
Handling Characteristics
This swords is very very well balanced and it´s feel like it is part of my hand, it´s light and fast and it moves just like i want. This is very easy sword to use. And it´s act just like goog gladius should.
The Actium is for my opinion very sturdy and really battle ready.
Conclusions
This sword is, in my opinion, an excellent value for the money and it proofs that relatively low cost swords can be really beatiful and welldone.
Me and roman wardog at the Rubikon 49 BC : "iacta alea est"
Pros
