I have been watching a group of four 30-minute television shows that are new to Spike TV, on Saturday mornings starting at 9:00 CDT. These four shows are all gun-related, and cover a broad list of defensive use categories. And they include some edged weapon segments too. They are collectively referred to as the Don't Be A Victim series, and are targeted toward the U.S. market.

The last one, Conceal & Carry School, was filmed at the training facility where I work as a sometimes-adjunct instructor. My boss Bill Davison is the lead instructor in the series (I was not present during filming). It is "reality TV", which I usually HATE. But so far, this one has been OK aside from the typical Spike TV "15 minutes of commercials in every 30 minute show" gig. The show revolves around a group of students who, for the most part, have been the victims of violent crime. There are training/shooting segments, interviews with the students, and reinactments of the crimes that brought them to the show.
It's not everyone's cup o' tea, but some of you may find it interesting and informative. The other three shows cover various ranges, schools and companies who represent a wide cross section of the defensive weapon market. I've found them all to be interesting. In one of the early episodes, there was a segment on the most secure house in Los Angeles. It's a modern security and luxury living masterpiece, with totally hidden threat counter-measures that anyone would love...if they could afford it. It strikes me as the modern equivalent to a small medieval castle.
