Is that a somewhat bizarre attempt at humor? :?: :ugeek:

It's a somewhat bizarre attempt at trolling. Lol.
Man, Luna, I thought I was decent at drawing blades, you just made all my drawing looks like a 5 year old's! Lol. Some really beautiful stuff there man, and I love that tactical blade.

Since that thread popped up again, I thought I'd let you know that the tac is currently in the works. I changed the blade shape to a true leaf blade which should simply perform better and altered the grip slightly but overall dimensions, etc stay the same. I got the edge bevels down and will probably finish rough grinding till next week. Unfortunately I will have to wait with heat treating quite a bit. One thing's for sure though, another of Luna's designs is coming to life!!
For the grip I got some beautiful red wood, Elsbeere (no idea ab out the english name). It'll look amazing, I promise!!

Great to hear about the progress, chenessfan--can't wait to see the final product! Thanks for the comments, guys (one person aside  ). I've been working on some new designs with a historical basis, which I'll post here as the first designs of 2011! Stay tuned.

****UPDATE****New Designs for a New Year! As usual, they'll also be added to the first post of this thread. This first warsword draws some inspiration from XIIa.5 in Oakeshott's "Records," a sword housed in Berlin for which there is no image of the blade and only a drawing to depict the hilt.

This next design draws inspiration from several different 15th century swords to reflect a compact, stabby weapon like those in the Castillon river find.

And then this beast of a single-hander comes strongly influenced by XIV.4 from "Records," with blade dimensions inspired by XIV.6 and XIV.8 Thanks for looking!

Nice new designs, Luna! I'm really digging that third one, though. Reminds me of the squat Albion Yeoman that I'm a fan of for some obscure reason.

You should design a ballock dagger. Y'know, for the peanut gallery.

Vincent: Thanks! The Yeoman resemblance is probably due to Peter J using XIV.4 as reference for the hilt as well. Midori: Hehe.

I...Wow. There's a lot here that I really like, but there's particular ones that make the breath catch in my throat. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't see the names of each, but...That one early on the list, with the almost S-shaped blade? Wonderful. Also the one that's rather Jian-esque, but with the spikes at the bottom. Makes me think of a Jian on fire...Though at a second look, I see the rose on the hilt. Ohhhh ^^;. And that evil-looking bas-...er...bugger, with the spikes on the guard with the...bits I can't remember the name of before the wrapped ricasso. And the leaf-blade, in steel! Why am I not immensely rich and capable of getting these made for me? ...Cthulhu Fhtagn...Love that scabbard .

Yes, yes, and yes. They're the ones I'm talking about, and I want them. I want them for my own. ...My precious...

He he, I know what you mean. I want the Falchion (Slim), Swan Neck, and Straven; they're my favorites. By the way, in case you didn't know (Luna never mentions it, after all), Brenno of Fable Blades will make any of Luna's designs, so start saving, no?

I did know But unfortunately I don't -really- have an income at the moment...^^;. I'm looking to get into knifemaking and eventually swordmaking at the moment, so maybe if I can sell a few after I get decent I'll be able to get something nice like these...that Rose Jian catches my eye som'in' fierce...

Anuan: glad you like my design . I was the one who came up with the concept for the rose jian, drew a few sketches and asked lunaman to draw it for me, one of these days I will get Bren to make it for me.

I do like it, quite a lot. I really want to see a rapier or sidesword with a similar theme, now...

ooO. Dont know why but this speaks to me. Might have to make this one up as soon as the SBG swords are finished.
I also really like the one just below this one. Might be a nice one to unveil some new handle options from BKS that I have been working on.
