I remounted dha which i purchased couple weeks ago.
I liked it but saber had quite a bit of defects.
A blade was extremely loose in scabbard and i had difficulty to close it is scabbard throat fitting.
Handle did not fit to my hand for me wood was to massive. Same thing with scabbard.
Blade has hand embossed carvings on two sides. These represent double The Phaya Nah - is a mythical river snake. Carvings were very rough. Blade was darkened.
First i disassembled handle. I removed wood overstock and reshaped it from perfect round style to more oval (egg) shape. Then i wrapped it with lizard skin. Some of polish saber handle had handle wrapping in lizard skin (millitary model wz.1922 -custom made for private officers orders). This is my nationality acccent .
I also added deertan lace wrap.
Brass gloss polished fittings i matted. I curved primitive sculls on a guard cup . Finally i shimmed handle with wood to have perfect fit to tang.
I filled roughness from embossing and i polished blade. I also sharpened cutting edge.
Than i split scabbard fixed internal groves, glued shims in throat area. Glued two sides together.
Then i removed wood overstock (in my opinion) from scabbard polished it end applied wood stein (red mahogany).
After it dry i polish wood with shop cloth i did not lacquered it.
Than i glued some lizard skin and on the end scabbard ostrich leg skin.
I did not take pictures before remounting couse my camera broke.
Today i made pics with new one.
