Does anyone out there have a Paul chen banshee cutting sword ? I am just wondering this because I can feel a project coming on (maybe?).
Question one, is it possible to remove the blade from the handle, or is it 'stuck' in place ?? ( Those little dots up the handle look like they are keeping the blade in ?)
Question two, can you take a picture of the blade removed from handle with the tang exposed fully, if its possible that is.
This idea comes from the fact my wife calls me the skip rat, as I yes I am not ashamed to say it , I am a person who goes through others rubbish in the council clean-ups (It's an Australian thing where you chuck your junk on the side of the road and the council pick it up twice a year)! Anyway there I am 6am ,boxer shorts and flip flops going through the neighbours heap when I come across an old very thick Oak curtain rod , that is about 1.75 inches thick and 8 foot long. I mean this pole is solid and was just screaming out NAGINATA.
Then I got to looking for a rather cheapish but still carbon-based blade with a thickish , curved look. I was even tempted to at one stage use an old wakizashi blade but when I saw the Banshee I thought I maybe looking at my candidate!
I would appreciate any input on this idea or any piccies you guys may have to help me on my way. I say all this as even though I do what I would class as minor alterations to all of the swords I own, I don't really regard myself or my skills as a sword-smith. I would regard myself as a swordsman, first and foremost, who adjusts the fittings for functionality nothing more .I think this idea just sprang from me finding the pole !
