Being able to watch yourself is an important tool in any training. If you don't already have a digital camera and are on a low budget, I will recommend the following one. It is a DXG 4.0 Megapixel and it is only $29 from ecost.com. This is the same camera that I use to record the fighting videos I post. It is about the size and weight of a cellphone. www.ecost.com/Detail.aspx?edp=2850754It takes two AAA batteries. I recommend you get rechargeable ones. If you take flash photos it eats batteries like crazy. You will also need to get a SD memory chips. It takes 512 mb chips and they cost about $6 at ecost. I recommend that you get two. They don't seem to have any in stock at the moment. Don't get the 1 gb chips cause the camera can not use them. You can use the cables that come with it to transfer files to the computer, but I recommend you get one of those USB pocket drives. I got mine for $6 at ecost. Again, I don't see it in stock at the moment. The SD chip goes inside that and then that plugs into the USB port for fast transfer. The typical picture is about 800 kb. You have to be careful not to shake the camera or they will come out blurry. The vids are in .avi form. This takes a lot of space. I edit my clips and convert them to more compressed .wmv form with Windows Movie Maker. P.S. the camera has gotten cheaper at $29. I paid $49 in June when I bought it at ecost.com.

I forgot to mention that one of the most important features of this cheap camera is that when you are in movie record mode you can hit the Start button and will keep recording until you come back and hit the Stop button. So you don't need an extra person holding the camera and holding down the record button.

tsafa, I concur. Having a camera with these features has been very helpful to me. Seeing myself in action, I am always suprized at my movements as they don't seem so when I'm doing them. I also get to post myself on the boards for constructive suggestions and ego right sizing. ;D

With digital camera's so cheap and useful, everyone who swings a sword seriously should have one.
