Western Waterbottle "Giri?" I couldn't very well put this in Adam's thread on the Japanese Sword Arts section, so I started a new one here in the General Sword Training section. I guess this falls under training, at least to the extent of "it's a way to get familiar with a new sword." I guess I should have Scottish music with this video, but I don't have any. I'm sure Rammstein will guess what sword this is soon...but for now, let it be a mystery. Anyway, Adam convinced me to buy this sword/scabbard/belt set, as it was too good a deal to pass up. I could tell by his voice on the phone that he wanted this little sweetheart badly but just couldn't swing the cash at that instant. So me being one to not let a great deal pass me by, I bought it. I'm sure Adam will get around to buying it from me eventually. But in the mean time, I'm going to tease him with video! C'mon buddy...you know you want her... ;D

By the way... 'giri' or 'kiri', depending on how it's conjugated, means 'cut'.
Such as 'tameshi-giri' and 'harai-kiri'(<- a vulgar term for seppuku, it means lit. 'belly cut').
Most strikes in iaido are 'giri'. Makko Giri, Kesa Giri etc.

That was a cool vid. I love how you linked it to You-Tube so it plays inside the forum. You will have to tell me how you did that.
I like the music. It gave me that spooky feeling that you get at the end of "Apocolopse Now".
What sword was that. Give us a close up pic and link where you got it.
Good work Mike.

Just see this thread where Paul explains how he added this capability to the forum toolbar. It's a new feature he just added yesterday I believe. I don't have any pictures of this sword yet. If the sun comes out tomorrow I will try to get one to post.

Here are a few pictures to drool over. Isn't she lovely with the morning light coming through the window, all snuggled up with her scabbard on their deer skin bed? BTW, that's an Albion Campaign line scabbard and belt. I guess I should turn the "Cheeky Dial" down a bit now... ;D

Hey rammstein, kindof off topic but what in the world do you do to get all your money? holy cow, you just spent $1400 on your ritter, and you have your Shrewsbury, as well as I'm sure other sword purchases... where does it all come from? I thought you didn't have a job? And now you have enough to get the laird and scabbard from Shooter, while having that deal of "$1 for sword, $1 for college fund"... which means you must have another almost $2000 lying around... you are one rich 16 year old...

his real name is Rammstein Hughes, long lost son of Howard. Or maybe its the royalties on all those albums he's sold.

ok, am I alone in feeling ever so slightly disturbed by the sight of Shootermike cavorting around with a sword, accompanied by The Velvet Underground's " Venus In Furs"? ;D BTW, Lovely sword!

Thanks Chopchop. The deer is easy. You just feed them corn...that's been soaked in Everclear for a few days. ok, am I alone in feeling ever so slightly disturbed by the sight of Shootermike cavorting around with a sword, accompanied by The Velvet Underground's " Venus In Furs"? ;D BTW, Lovely sword! Thanks Ken. But I have to admit that I'd never heard of Velvet Underground until Rammstein told me to download that particular song to go with a cutting video. Woops! Cat's outa the bag...now everybody knows I am totally unhip and uncool. BTW everyone, I made some more video today with several different swords. Any suggestions for musical accompaniment? Help for the uncool please...

What else but Iron Maiden's "The Duellists" and "Flash Of The Blade? ;D Or how about something from Hawkwind's "Chronicles Of The Black Sword" album? How many Elric fans out there would like to do some back yard cutting with "Stormbringer"? ;D

ew! Anyways, I usually pay for the sword then get the rest of the money - meaning for my ritter, I spent the 700 dollars and spent much of the time waiting for it and the time after recieving it making the other 700, which really wasn't so hard. I have a spare 1k lying around what with the money in my room, bank, and other stuff, but I really need to put that in my college fund rather than buying swords right now, which is why I said "theoretically." Anywho, I get my money from hard work around the house which does start to add up faster than one thinks. Keep in mind I have no other staples to spend except the occasional movie and girlfriend (but that's only just begun ).

Shootermike, is it possible to email music? If so, I could get you that pipe medley. Anyway, here's some more suggestions if you like what I've suggested so far: Roads to Moscow - Al Stewart (You MUST use this sometime, knowing you, you'd love this song) Iron Man - Black Sabbath (The beginning beat should work well, I don't know how much the rest of the song would though) Smoke on the Water - deep purple Change of Seasons - Dream theater (Only the intro, but it should be more than long enough) The Glass Prison - Dream Theater (Same as above, beautiful intro) In the Name of God - Dream Theater (ditto) Endless Sacrifice -Dream Theater (Ditto) Fear of the Drk - Iron Maiden Kashmir - Led Zeppelin Sinkin' Soon - Norah Jones (Completely different genre, but I'm curious as to what you could do with it) O Field, My Field! - Russian Red Army Choir The Sound of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen - Dimmu Borgir (simply beautiful intro, piano and all) Ok, here's ones that I really want to see you use, regardless of how stupid/odd it would appear: Pink Floyd - Several Species of Small Furry Aminals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict (Yes that's a song!) Trogdor theme - www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail58.htmlWhere is My Mind? - Pixies O Fortuna - Carl Orff Layla - Eric Clapton
