I have an original too. Carlos 1774 on the blade. Quite flexible too. How's yours?

I have an original too. Carlos 1774 on the blade. Quite flexible too. How's yours? Woof! Recycled service blade. Nice. My blade has no service marks. These are parts from Toledo Arsenal that were finally assembled in the 1820s for sale to collectors. Nicely tempered steel. Lot of sword to manage with a rapier grip.

Interesting. French Cuirassier blade refitted on a Spainish 1796 cav hilt. Possibly a war prize blade from Baylen? No idea how to price this. Avery interesting, lost history from the Peninsular War.

I see you've been watching Pino's stuff! He often has some very interesting pieces; some very obscure models (I think he sold Afoo his Finnish-service French 1822) Blade on this one seems modified? It seems to have a bit more profile taper near the tip compared to the original French versions. Perhaps it was ground down to fit the Spanish scabbard (which is now lost to time)? Also interesting how they did the ricasso- just used the bare tang. On first impression it sounds like a dumb idea but they seem to have pulled it off okay. In terms of price? This is not my segment of the market so don't quote me. On one hand the condition is less than perfect especially the blade. On the other hand, the chances of you finding another such sword are close to 0%...

I thought the blade looked unusually worn at the tip. Interesting theory on a war prize. Maybe a soldier picked up a broken sword and someone later mated a new blade. My neighbor had a Japanese Airsaka rifle he brought home from Iwo Jima. His son thought he would make it into a deer rifle and butchered the stock and tried to bore it out so it would fire .30-06. He completely ruined it. When I was a kid it hung on some nails in his barn rusting away. Maybe this sword has a similar story.
