That link that Sean provided was the one I was referring to earlier in this thread I believe...wonder what sort of beef could've arisen that precluded the making of those swords. I mean, did he hold copyrights to that property (I don't see how but who knows) or something? I have to admit, my curiosity is piqued as well. The Way Ronin Katana came into the thread and said 'That is not going to happen. I've reported this thread.' and then the next post was Paul's cryptic 'Due to legal things I can't say anything but... thread locked.' VERY curious. As to your statements about presentation... I agree. If you want to sell something, and you want to be taken seriously, you must present yourself well. ESPECIALLY over the Internet, where people are buying things without the ability to 'kick the tires' as it were... so basically, all they have to go on is how professional and serious a seller looks. VERY important.

Oh, darnit, now I'm going to have to do a bit of sleuthing. You know the saying. Curiousity killed the Slayer! ;D -Slayer

Hey, wait a second... that guy in the other thread that Paul locked was FROM Zeist Armories!
Look at the pics.. they're the same. Both claim to be made from T-10 steel, and both say that they aqcuired a prop from the movie to cast the hilt from! With the speculation around the guy in that other thread, I would avoid them. I know that we don't have any basis for concern other than RoninKatana and Paul saying that there's a legal issue, but I trust Paul. If there wasn't something seriously wrong, he wouldn't have locked that thread out of the blue...
Global gear for me, thank you! ;D

All I know is from 'my' experiences and I have a custom H3 katana that I bought from Zeist Armories and it is the most beautiful, detailed and solid sword I've ever owned. I've studied the movie sword for over 10 years and have had many versions of the Highlander swords all of which pale in comparison to this sword. The carvings are deep and the details are amazing. It's simply my dream sword made real and it's because of Zeist that I have it.
They are honorable men, I've spoken with them repeatedly during the process of making my sword and I am glad that I chose to do business with them. Just because they were banned from here doesn't mean they should be villified forever. As far as the site goes, they just said they'd rather spend their time making quality swords than working on a site. I can see their point on that one.
But again, you all are entitled to your opinions. I can only offer my experience.

When catapults are outlawed, only outlaws will have catapults? How is that relevant to the topic at hand?
I think that's great that you had a good experience with them...you are one person. Now imagine how business would be for them if we ALL were to purchase from them- simply because they took the time to PRESENT their wares in an attractive manner, instead of some slapdash mess that only attracts children?
OOh look, they have the Highlander katana, I WANT IT! - those folks sure...but there's a good many more of us who look for more than eye candy when we make our purchases, and we're the ones with the buying power, feel me?
All I'm saying is, if they cater to their market, they reap the rewards. I'm sure they'd rather sell 10 swords instead of 1.
I wonder what the legal issue was about...Slayer! Keep us posted!

That's not necessary, we're all equals here...now that I know you meant it in humor, it makes sense. Kudos to you, for taking the high road!

But do you know how it feels to hold a secret? A secret you can't contain, you can't bury deep within? A secret that when you tell someone and they don't believe you, it just eats away inside? (maybe an exaggeration)
Well that's how I feel about my sword and the guys from Zeist. Those that have bought from them could not be happier. I've actually seen one guy who compared his ZA katana to his Albion HL sword. And the Albion sold for over three thousand. So you see why I am passionate?
But like I said before: ut sulum suus

I recall when that thread about making highlander swords first came out. The poster had a link that went to Ziestarmories, so yes, it's the same fellow. I couldn't say for certain, but I suspect the "legal issues" probably had to do with the fellow saying that they had acquired an actual studio mold for the hilt and were going to use that to make their swords.

I too was curious about that thread. Back to the OP, my advice would be to go with global gear. I have 3 swords from them, one was bought secondhand, but the 2 that came directly from them are great in terms o value for money. As far a Zeistarmories goes, well I haven't heard enough about them to really say much. The things I have heard didn't sound too good, though. Plus, with all the things about legal issues, I'd stay away.

Ok... now I am super currious. I wonder what Ronin Katana's involvement in these 'legal issues' is... and I wonder if the poster from Ziest *WAS* in fact banned. That would surprise me. I could see the thread being locked and him being asked not to advertise since he is not listed as a vendor here... but I can not see why he would be banned. Did I mention I'm currious as to Ronin Katana's involvement? I do love a good mystery.

It makes me wonder if you have a vested interest in them. I'm not accusing you of anything, but thats the way it strikes me. Would it be too much trouble to ask for a review of your H3, complete with pics? Oh and just for you Ebon,... Medio Tutissimus ibis. In my youth, I drove sometimes after having one too many. This was always my mantra.

Must admit, I got that impression as well. Its often the case when someone with almost no posts except on the topic of one perticular vendor/maker... and all those post read almost like a testomonial for the product. However... I'm still just REALLY currious about the whole Ziest/Ronin Katana/Banning thing.

It just bothers me when people form an impression about people without getting information for themselves. It's happened many times to me and it sucks. And yes I stick up for the little guy because when I was younger, I was the little guy.
Zeist is a new company (less than a year) and they already have Jose De Braga working with them. I don't know about the rest of you, but it was De Braga's involvement that got me interested in getting a sword from them. I know enough about Jose to know that he would never align himself with people who are shady or have poor quality products.
I have known Jose for a while and I consider him one of my mentors. He is an honorable man, supremely talented and an excellent judge of character. He trusts Zeist with his designs that are worth thousands of dollars and I trust his opinion. Just as you all trust Paul. Which is cool, I respect the fact that you all trust Paul. I know him as well and I know that he is a good man.
I just can't accept Global Gear's sword as a Highlander sword. They are Highlander styled, but that's about it. They are not screen accurate like the ad says. So why does no one bring that up? A bit of bias? I've never seen a real Highlander sword with a gem on the side. I've also never seen such an awesome selection of truly accurate, functional and affordable Highlander swords that you can get from Zeist.
So am I involved with or do I have a vested interest in Zeist? No I'm not and I don't. Am I trying to persuade anyone to buy this instead of that? No. I trust that people are capable of doing what they feel is right. Am I just trying to open people's minds to the possibilities? Yes. And that's it.
Eventually I will post a review of my H3, but I for now I am resigned to sit back and watch. Respectfully, I bid you all a good night.

shinsei: I can SEE that you are passionate about Zeist... but do you realize that, in your very short time here, the ONLY posts you have ever made are in this thread in regards to Zeist? Presumably your a fan of swords... thats why most of us come here... but you have had nothing to say in any category other then this one... and that, plus your extremely ferverent defense of Zeist, does come across as a little suspicious. I also find the other thread, which was closed, that involved Ziest VERY curious, and would like to know more. I have nothing against them (aside from their choice of name. As a Highlander fan who owns the first movie and the TV series on DVD, I find anyone who acknowledges that second movie suspect. Heh.) I don't know anything about them... and would be more then interested in learning more. I'm bummed that the other thread was locked... and if he WAS banned, I would be shocked and would want to know why... I did not see him do anything worth baning. Warning, sure, but not baning. I STILL wanna know Ronin Katana's involvement. At the end of the day tho... I think your passion is actually going to work AGAINST you in your desire to 'open peoples eyes' and get them to give Zeist a chance... because the fact that you only post on this one subject makes you look like a shill for the company. People like independent opinions, not spokespeople... thats sort of what we are about here. If you DID do a review of the sword.... that would go a LONG way toward getting people to look at and think about Zeist's products... because pictures ARE worth a thousand words... video is worth a thousand pics... and we DIG reviews around here. Think about it. BTW, I'm not a fan of Global Gear myself... I've been less then impressed with what I have seen from them.
