If it looks anything like that blasted movie's version, I'll pass. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Brisingr sword will be an exact copy, except with a blue blade.

He's right, the movie sword was horrible. Cheap chinese wallhanger and not even good looking. I liked Brom's sword, though.

The only one worth having...I have it. I don't know if they're Chinese tho...is Master Cutlery a Chinese company?

id say having a functional red sword would be unique but it wouldnt be red paint, maybe they could add a special element into the steel that gives it the red color so it wouldnt scratch of after cutting

Ebon Paladin: No, Master Cutlery is not a chinese company but their swords pretty much are of the same low quality. For wallhangers that's fine I guess but I don't think their swords even earn the name 'sword'.
Whiteshadow: You can blue a blade (DSA Black knight) but that finish isn't scratch resilent but I don't know if you could also make a blade with a red finish. Having done sport fencing guite some time I know there are golden and blue/purple blades that don't lose their colour in 'combat' but I've never seen a red blade.

Fox has zero plans to make a sequel. I don't blame them, there are plenty of better stories, and they butchered what little good the first one had going for it.

If they didn't do such a horrible job on Eragon, a sequel would be a wise choice. However, they practically made it impossible to make a sequel that would be any more accurate than the Eragon movie was. As for better stories, there are some, since it is not the absolute best series ever, but I would call it better than average. For example, the Twilight movie was based on a stupid book, and fans of the book even said that it wasn't that good. However, it was still a very successful movie (the entire plot was gay and the movie was low budget, but it still brought in a lot of profit).

I really loved the Eragon books. A great story for a first time writer. And I still think the sword is cool. Just wish it was real.

If you want one that bad, contact Brendan from Fable Blades. If anybody can make it, he can.

i read the book and saw the movie... the book is basically star wars set in a lord of the rings world... and whoever wrote the movie well i remain unconvinced they read anything except the back of the book... or maybe asked a 4th grade class about the book or something. don't get me started on twilight... though i do have a very very fun video i'll be making including swords and twilight as far as the zar'oc sword... i think global gear or some other low level company was doing a "titanium encased" blade... and it was red as a result... i mean it sounds liek total crap to me but might be a suitable lead for a way to achieve the effect. or i was thinking maybe through anodizing you could do it... anodize the blade then have it mounted.

Eragon was a basic, formulaic story about a reluctant hero...something we've all seen done before (Star Wars anyone?) but it was an entertaining read, my sister turned me onto them and I in turn intro'd my kids to them.
The movie was a travesty- where were the dwarven warriors of Tronjheim? They were an integral part of the books...as well as the final battle in Farthen Dur against the Urgals, which looked nothing like I thought they would based on the descriptions in the book...in the movie, they looked like nothing more than degenerate football players with strange ears and eyes. Definitely a travesty.

I enjoyed the book a lot. Have read better (Tolkien anyone?) but I did enjoy it. Character development was pretty poor, but it did capture an atmosphere. Which is pretty important to me. Unfortunately so is character development.

I found that while it was not very original, the plot still gave me a feeling of overall adventure, which has always been my favorite aspect of fantasy stories. Yes, I have read much better, but you do have to give the author some credit because of his young age. I'm glad that I could help you, starstuff (if I was actually any help at all).

I agree. But I always hated the whole "For his/her age" thing. Younger people are just as capable as adults, only they have more time. Although I agree. It did capture the atmosphere of adventure for me. Which is my reason for continuing the book.

It isn't necessarily his age as much as his experience. As I understand it, Eragon was the first novel he wrote, which means that he had little experience. I believe that young people can actually have an advantage when it comes to writing fantasy, because they usually have a more vivid imagination. However, I would never compare Christopher Paolini to J. R. R. Tolkien. Anyways, at least he is off to a good start. Who knows what he could be writing in a few decades?
