Hi all,
Just a quick question. Does anyone know why cold steel stopped making their 2 handed jian sword? I have their Gim sword and I love it, but was interested in the other but can't find it anymore.

Not sure when they stopped making those but I would say quite a long time ago. Cold steel (CS) Chinese swords are quite similar to Huanuo swords. There is a few ways you could get one: 1) Get yourself a Huanuo two-handed jian by contacting Scott Rodell at www.sevenstarstrading.com/html/2) There is a used Huanuo two handed jian at the classified at swordforum.com, it is very similar if not better than CS two handed jian: forums.swordforum.com/showthread.php?t=96969 3) Post at SBG or SFI classified that you want to buy a CS two handed jian. If you're lucky, someone might sell you one. Good luck

Always interested in zhisword but haven't heard much on the reviews. From your experience, how does a functional zhisword compare to Huanuo sword?

I might sound stupid but when I look at the picture of zhisword on ebay, their fittings is a dealbreaker for me Yeah that Huanuo 2 handed is kinda pricey. Could get a nice DF forge folded bushi for that price. Plus DF and Huanuo share the same forge if I am not mistaken (well it's Chinese sword not surprise about the price ) . I bet I can get a really good 2 handed jian from Garrett for a little less. Yeah with a bit more cash, a Ludemo 2 handed or a fable blade are quite an option. Still no sign on Hanwei cutting jian? Edit: Chinese sword market...at least they are not as bad as middle-eastern sword market. I am a sucker for curvy blade

Hi, I have created a Zhisword thread a few weeks ago. A person posted pictures of a tang unsuitable for usage. I am debating whether to bring this up with the company through email. I hope that it was not commonplace; their Japanese Swords are well made, so they should be able to do the same for Chinese Swords. Correspondence with them showed promise; they certainly know how certain features in a sword will affect the functionality...

After reading about different forges, I wish to discuss an opinion: I am somewhat disappointed that many of these Chinese Forges are able and adept at producing affordable and functional katanas at various price points, but are not as able to provide the same for Chinese Jian and Dao. I have seen Paul Chen/Hanwei create high value presentational jian and examples of things like miaodao, but they are not designed for regular cutting use!!! It is sort of a disservice to have Chinese Swords as an afterthought or as a secondary product or market; there are so many ornate, innovative, mystical, and lethal swords that are waiting to be brought back from the confines of historical texts, monuments, museums, and literature...

Zero, first, I wouldn't use that sword you posted. You should either talk to those guys or keep it as wall hanger. On the rest it's about $$$. People in the west want katanas. Chicks dig. I'm now kinda straying away from that lot... I would recommend you guys to look into this: fableblades.com/Fox%20Jian.htmlDesign your own.

Um, that is NOT my sword, and I specifically mentioned the unusable tang on that sword.

You could get a custom jian from garret and get it at a 2 handed length, I've got a 40" tang jian coming to me.

Caution! I don't know what's up with Seven Stars, but my Norton intercepted and blocked a trojan virus when I clicked on the link. Be careful!

I was truly surprised when he told me the cost of all my modifications. Sooooo much cheaper than I could have possibly expected.
