OKey so my friend is having a part near the end of the year and the theme is princes and princesses of the world you pick a country go as said countries prince/princess I wanna go as the prince of persia (clearly breaking from the main idea of the theme) So I was wondering what people would do about the sword for said costume ? Im aiming for the sands of time look so I was thinking about using a valiant armoury medieval falchion... but what do you all think ?! (and it needs to be budget friendly, because although I am not just buying it for a costume piece (it will become one of my collection) I still dont wanna spend much)

$159.95 at Cult of Athena, same for the VA. I like VA a lot but just thought I throw this out - seems more arabic.

go with the MRL shamshir, more accurate to history if that is the way you are going. There have been princes of persia in the past so not breaking with the theme much at all.

I would also suggest the MRL Shamshir.

So would I; I think MRL also offers more fantasy-inspired stuff like their Arabian Scimitar (or maybe its just called a scimitar, I forget). I think belly dancers tend to like the latter.

The CS shamshir comes sharp too. $199 at KoA. Got a good review as a cutter in the SBG cutter/slicer/chopper section.

Just as an excuse to bring it up... brotherbanzai made some Prince of Persia swords seen at the top of the page here: www.bronzebyjeffreyjrobinson.com/customblades.html Awesome. The MRL or Cold Steel Shamshir is on my list to. My wife bought me the Cold Steel one for my birthday last year, but I had to send it back cuz it was twisted at the last 6 inchs a bit. Sadly, the vendor said that they did not have any examples of the weapon that were better then that, and I refused to have a twisted blade and refused to belive they were all that bad, so I got a refund rather then a replacement. Which was a shame, since I want a scimitar/shamshir in my collection.

This is slightly on topic, I suppose. A Prince of Persia movie is being made, or is going to be made.

Good GOD ALMIGHTY...brotherbanzai, you're fierce man, fierce. I'm lovin those PoP swords...vicious as hell!
I'm not sold on Gyllenhaal as the Prince...given the premise, I think Wilmer (Valderrama) could've pulled it off. If he could leave off the annoying lisp, that is. lol

Ha ha, I dont think I could get Fez out of my mind if he played it. There are a couple pics of Jake across the net in costume, he fits the game alright.
Hairu, have you seen casiberia's scimitar?

Isn't Price of Persia by Ubisoft? And isn't Darksword doing some sort of top-secret collaboration with them? Maybe they're making stuff to go along with the movie? I guess that's just a guess, but it could be interesting to see what they make.
