Hi everyone. I'm going to have to say something here. The previously posted tang is much too thin. The ones we sell are usually at least half the width of the blade. I also took a quick look at: www.zhisword.com/index.php?main_p....products_id=606Note the blade thickness is 0.95 cm. Even my oxtails and da dao are not even close to that. One shouldn't settle for structural deficiencies even in the economy price point.

Hey sigild, this is the model I have: www.zhisword.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_54&products_id=590 I also have pictures of it on the "new acquisutions thread." I tried to undo the sword today. Well, got the pommel nut, cover and washer off. But the grip won't budge. I think it might be epoxied or whatever. Anyways, When I gave up and tried to screw it back on, the loop part of the pommel nut cracked and broke off. I was upset at first, but it didn't bother me much in the end since all it does is hold the tassel. Guess I won't be using the tassel, big deal. Wish could've seen the tang though. So I filed down the sharp ends of the crack and got a smooth pommel nut now. On a side note, I have done a little cutting with this sword. Structurally, everything is fine. I didn't do a review because I did a mass cutting with many swords, so it was hard to stop and take pics for so many cuts and so many swords. I should limit cutting sessions to one or two swords at a time.

Sorry to hear about the damage to the pommel nut, vayduong! But thanks for letting us know what you found even if you didn't get a look at the tang. The fact that the grip won't come off is pretty telling in and of itself.
And thanks for your input, Garrett. I know very little about the proper construction of Chinese swords so it's good to hear from someone with a great deal of experience in this area. Perhaps I'd be wiser to commission a jian from Jin Shi, with a design similar to the Zhi sword I've had my eye on.
