I've seen these but not held one in-hand; if it is up to 'usual' Windlass standards then you should get a decently balanced cutter with a good, flexible blade that can take and keep an edge. Since they're in the Last Chance section, you can't go wrong for $145, truly you can't.

From what my inexperienced arm can tell you, it's REALLY well balanced. Probably the easiest handling sword I picked up when I visited KoA. I was really tempted to get it, but I didn't really have money to spend. Definitely worth the price.

KoA lists the point of balance as being only 1/4 inch, is that right?

Huh, well that would explain why it handled so well, wouldn't it? Haha! ;D

I had a play with one. It's the only windlass I've handled other than the Narnia sword I owned (it's retired and scrapped for parts - Wait a few days for the REBIRTH!). I sharpened the cruciform for a guy locally. I didn't check the POB, but I dont remember noticing it at the guard. It hasn't got alot of blade though, so it wouldn't surprise me. By that I mean that the blade is thin, as are all Windlass blades to my understanding. It's very flexible, and about as long as I'd want to go on a blade of this thickness. For me, I'd like it stiffer. It might make a good cutter with good form. But it felt weak to me. I'm used to my swords which are 6mm blades, they still distal taper but are far stiffer than the windlasses.
Neither here nor there I also noticed that the steel was fairly soft to what I'm used to (my swords). I'd guess it'd be Rc 46-47. Thats fine though, it's durable. And on a par with Gen 2 from my experience, but a few steps softer than Hanwei.
Otherwise I found the grip would suit slender hands. The pommel rubs a bit for anything over biggish hands.
This was also my first and only encounter with Windlass leather scabbards. I must say I quite liked it. It fit firm, and was plenty stiff. But I like to think that if I had to do a tactical role out of the way of an incoming arrow it wouldn't snap.
Bottom line, it'd make a fine first sword, or first of the type. Good for swinging around, feeling the role, and light cutting. It's light and does have presence in it's size, but not it's weight.
